Reason I got SMILE LASIK: 1-2 years ago, I was wearing contacts and my eyes turned red. After that, whenever I wore contacts, I felt extreme dryness, so I lived without contacts. Seeing the world a bit blurry was oddly comfortable but also inconvenient, and I thought I couldn't live unable to see like this, so I suddenly decided on LASIK!
A friend had been looking into hospitals for eye surgery for a while, and at one hospital the director told my friend that if they were his family, he would not let them get eye surgery and told them not to do it. My friend was refused at that hospital. >> This kind of story felt genuine, like they weren't doing surgery only for money, so I got examined and scheduled the surgery date. Eye condition before surgery: They said I had a little dryness and my pupils were very slightly larger than others, so I might have glare after surgery. Other than that, they said my eyes were very, very normal and ordinary.
Day of surgery: I was pretty nervous, but I did what the hospital told me to do.
They put anesthetic drops in my eyes several times and drilled the scripted instructions into my head. (You only need to look at the green light. You may not see it in the middle, but even if you can't see it, don't move your eyes and just keep looking at one spot.)
If you stare blankly at the green light, the surgery proceeds, and at some point you can't see it, but if you just zone out, before you know it, it's over and the doctor rolls up and removes the corneal lenticule. And the person next to me told me how many seconds were left the whole time. Right after surgery, they checked my eyes once more, and then super chill, I went home~!
It was a strangely new kind of pain I had never felt before. I couldn't tell if my eyes hurt, if I had a headache, or if this was even pain. It was a first-time kind of pain, but it was bearable. I came home, ate, and immediately took a nap.
Pain? None. The world? I could see so well ;
Day after surgery: I could see so well and felt so fine that I wondered if I had really had surgery. I took the subway to go to the hospital, and the world outside the subway looked so clear. I think my vision came out around 1.2.
I used artificial tears frequently, and at one point my eyes were very dry. The hospital gave me medication to put in my eyes before sleeping, and after using it for about a week, I was fine. Even now! At that time, my vision was around 1.5!
Now at 3 months, my review is that I have fewer things to prepare and no hassle. Putting in contacts before going out, packing a contact lens case and Renu when traveling, taking out contacts after going out, there are none of these steps, so I love it. Some may think, is that really a big deal? But as someone who gets annoyed by hassle easily, having one step removed from getting ready is so comfortable!
And you know how when something gets into your contacts, it feels uncomfortable when you're out. There is none of that, and my eyes feel free!
Oh, if I drink alcohol, my eyes are dry the next day! But it's not extreme dryness, so I don't use artificial tears separately. I think I did really well getting the surgery. I recommend it, recommend it.
