Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

After correcting malocclusion, I eventually had double-jaw surgery (6 months post-op)

Hoohoohoo hello It has already been 6 months since I had double-jaw surgery and facial contouring surgery (chin tip, square jaw) at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

I had orthodontic treatment for malocclusion starting in 4th grade of elementary school, and when I became a high school student, the dental clinic director said there was no longer room for improvement with orthodontics and recommended that I have double-jaw surgery after becoming an adult.

Even after having orthodontic treatment for a long time, the money kept going out, my dental occlusion still did not fit well, and my protruding lower jaw and long face were stressful... So among many hospitals, I chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. I think the fact that they only operate on 1 person a day and that a guardian can watch the surgery from outside felt very trustworthy. So on January 9, after the New Year, I had double-jaw surgery and 2 types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw, chin tip)!

As for sensation, which people are most curious about, at 3 months post-op, I felt like sensation at the tip of my chin had not quite returned, and the director said the bone had not fully fused yet, so I was worried. But now, 6 months later, it feels like the swelling has completely gone down, and the nerves seem to have all returned without any problems.

I also had my 6-month follow-up check with the director, and he said the surgery went well and that the bone has now fully fused nicely. When I compared the pre-op photos with the post-op photos, I realized I had been living as if I had forgotten my old pre-op appearance to the point that I could barely remember it. haha Since I have been eating everything I wanted from 3 months post-op, my face now at 6 months post-op seems puffier than it was at 3 months. The director also asked me if I had put on some weight. In reality, I ate so well that I gained weight. That much, the surgery went well, the problem with chewing food disappeared, and I feel like I found the joy of eating again. Eating too well is the problem, but I really think I did well getting double-jaw surgery.! Going forward, I plan to keep receiving orthodontic treatment and think about when to have the pin removal surgery~
