I had been reading reviews since before surgery, feeling both nervous and excited, and now I’m finally going to write my own review! haha First, my reason for surgery was that my complex was having a protruding lower jaw and a flat face I had malocclusion, so I got orthodontic treatment, but there was no improvement in my appearance, so I eventually started looking into surgery I went to consultations at quite a few plastic surgery clinics and oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics! At first, plastic surgery clinics said I could see a big effect with facial contouring surgery alone, but the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics tried to address the problem a bit more fundamentally, and they all recommended two-jaw surgery!! It felt like a waste that I had orthodontics, but I also didn’t want to leave myself with regrets, so I decided on two-jaw surgery!! Among them, after seeing the skill and level-headedness(?) of the director at Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, I made up my mind to have surgery here!
<Day of surgery> I arrived right on time, and before I even had time to get nervous, I had consultations with the director and consultant, then went into the operating room, and I don’t remember anything after that During the consultation, I showed the director photos of the face shape I wanted, and he said it wouldn’t turn out like that hahaha He said he wished he could do it too, so I just asked him to make it look pretty from his perspective hahaha Also, I was on my period so I went in wearing period underwear After it was over and I came out, all I remember is my mom continuously trying to wake me up. I was so, so sleepy that I think I kept dozing off and waking up until evening After my mom went home, I think I held out for a bit and then fell asleep right away I was just waiting for them to say it was okay to sleep haha. During the hospital stay, I couldn’t drink much water and barely walked, but breathing and sleeping were relatively comfortable. I was worried the next day that removing the urinary catheter and blood drain would hurt, but it wasn’t like that at all! They took good care of me during the hospital stay, and the facilities were good, so I think I stayed comfortably haha
<Week 1> The director said I would swell a lot, and I really did swell a lot I think walking a lot at this time is really important I didn’t walk much because I had no strength and felt too lazy, and I really regret it They say walking really helps with swelling. At this time, I diligently ate New Care and blended porridge. My throat was swollen, so taking medicine was hard at first, but I adjusted quickly. And even with a donut cushion, sitting all day made my tailbone hurt haha. In case the wounds inside my mouth became inflamed, I brushed and gargled really diligently and carefully! I think a tongue cleaner is definitely necessary too! Sleeping while sitting up was fairly okay if I arranged cushions well, and I always slept with a humidifier on!
<Week 2> Removing the cheekbone stitches and tape really didn’t hurt at all!! It also ended quickly! Maybe because I kept eating only liquid food, my stomach hurt, and on a morning when I skipped breakfast, I was sitting down and then when I stood up, my head went blank and I collapsed I don’t remember well, but my mom was really shocked, so after that I received close care hahaha Even if brushing is annoying, I think you have to keep putting food into your body. Also, because I had no strength, the director told me to stand up slowly and be careful since I hadn’t eaten much.
<Week 3> The stitches around the philtrum area pulled little by little and hurt even during daily life, so when I thought about going to have the intraoral stitches removed, I hoped that day would never come I had heard that removing stitches really hurts, so I was scared.. The intraoral stitches really did hurt. But the director’s hands felt really fast, and he removed them cleanly all at once, so I could only cry on the inside hahaha After the stitches were removed, some of my worries disappeared, and it was easier to move my mouth! I tried to eat foods full of nutrients I ate a lot of porridge and had a lot of ice cream and bread as snacks. At this time, I realized how precious the joy of chewing crunchy foods is, and it was very hard Everyone says they lose a lot of weight after surgery, but I actually gained a little.. hahaha. I think I ate fairly diversely, but I recommend cheesecake, castella, ice cream, Sari Gomtang, Chapagetti, scrambled eggs! steamed eggs, and so on!
<Week 4> Maybe because I didn’t walk diligently, my swelling didn’t go down much I went to the clinic and had a consultation with the director, and my mom kept asking leading questions because she really wanted to hear that the surgery went extremely well, but the director absolutely did not give her the answer she wanted hahaha. Still, somehow he always gives a dependable feeling! Everyone will know what I mean if they experience it! When I looked at photos of my old face, it felt strangely unfamiliar hahaha. And I was finally told I didn’t have to wear the wafer anymore, which made me really happy! When you wear a wafer, it’s hard to pronounce words, and putting it in and taking it out is difficult After week 4, I even ate sushi at a restaurant by cutting it with scissors haha! People I met said my impression had become cuter Still, there’s still a lot of swelling left, so it feels very puffy. I also worked hard on mouth-opening exercises. Even if I work hard, it doesn’t open well I’ll have to work harder on managing my stamina and swelling from now on Fighting!
<Month 2> I can’t believe it’s already been 2 months since surgery I’m a case where I had orthodontics because of a protruding lower jaw and malocclusion, but I was very disappointed because there was no change in my appearance, so I had two-jaw surgery again After a lot of thought, I had surgery with Director Lee Seok-jae, who is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and is known for being very skilled!
For the month after surgery, honestly, I worried a lot and had a hard time paying attention to even small changes There were also many inconveniences, but after a month passed, I even forgot that I had surgery and went back to daily life hahaha. Since I see my face every day, I couldn’t really tell, but my family says every time they see me that the swelling has gone down and I’ve become prettier haha To recover my stamina, I’ve been exercising a lot these days and even signed up for yoga haha. Now that the protruding lower jaw that used to be my complex is gone, my eyes, nose, and mouth look prettier too, and I think I’ve come to feel more affection for my face haha They say mouth exercises are very important too, so I’m doing them consistently! It still feels like my muscles haven’t fully recovered, so I’ll have to try even harder hahahaha. After one month passed, I didn’t get stressed about food and ate everything I wanted haha. I hope the swelling goes down quickly and that I reach 3 months soon~!~!
