About 13 years ago, I had my first two-jaw surgery for protruding mouth + long face.
After the surgery, it was better than before, but because my mouth area was corrected too much, I ended up with what people commonly call a sunken, toothless-looking mouth. As I got older year by year, my mouth seemed to recede even more.. My nasolabial folds got worse, so I even put in implants for paranasal augmentation surgery (I had them put in, but removed them because they were uncomfortable in many ways). I tried raising my nose more too (several times), and wondering if my cheekbones were the problem, I even shaved down my cheekbones, and I feel like I tried everything.. I think I spent tens of millions of won.. Even after all kinds of surgeries, this aged look wasn’t resolved, so as a last resort, I went for a consultation for revision two-jaw surgery.
Because my mouth had been set back too much, my face was overall flat and my mouth area looked like an elderly woman’s mouth, so I was diagnosed that this surgery needed to bring it forward again with two-jaw surgery.. Do I really have to go through that painful surgery again.. How painful will it be this time.. I thought it would be better than living my whole life with the frustrating appearance of a sunken elderly-woman mouth, so I eventually decided on surgery and had it done.
After the surgery ended, I asked how long the surgery took, and they said it took about 2 hours? It was a revision surgery, but it only took that long.. I found it surprising.
And the hardest thing after two-jaw surgery is breathing, but they said fixation with rubber bands would start one week later, after the swelling inside the mouth went down a bit, so I had no trouble breathing from right after surgery.
Food was similar to the first two-jaw surgery. In the same way, for one week I had drinkable foods, and after two weeks, finely blended porridge and so on. But unlike my previous two-jaw surgery, the swelling went down really fast, so at around one month, my face wasn’t that puffy swollen face, but had slimmed down, to the point that people couldn’t tell I had surgery. I think it’s thanks to the director minimizing the surgery time and bleeding.
As for swelling, except for briefly being puffy when I wake up in the morning, my face has become much slimmer, and I can eat all foods.
People who know my face after surgery first say my face got smaller, second say my face looks younger, third say my face looks more natural.
These are the things I hear the most. I’m still only 2 months post-op and there’s still swelling, so it’s fascinating to hear that my face got smaller.
I wish I had gone for a consultation earlier instead of touching unrelated areas around my face. I had memories of my first two-jaw surgery being so hard, so I thought it would be really hard, but it wasn’t as hard or as painful as I expected.
I’m quite satisfied.
