Before <before surgery> After <right after surgery> After <day 1 evening> After <day 2> After <day 3> After <day 4, today> I had a hidden double eyelid on the right and no double eyelid on the left (when I’m tired, a double crease sometimes appears), so I kept using eyelid tape and glue. It was getting too stressful, and as I got older my eyes kept looking more sunken, so I went ahead with surgery. Full incision + eye correction + inner corner canthoplasty I visited about 6 clinics for consultations. I’ll probably post the consultation reviews soon too! The main reason I chose this place was that the consultation was the most thorough, and they really explained in detail how they would improve my asymmetrical eyes, and they kept checking whether I had any other questions During the consultation, they showed me someone with severe asymmetrical eyes just like mine, and the moment I saw it I immediately thought, oh, this is it, so I was about 60% decided already. But there also weren’t many real reviews on places like the community or Naver Cafe, and when I asked at the front desk about aftercare, whether there was any AS, they didn’t answer clearly and seemed a bit curt? That was subtly bothering me, but looking back now, that’s probably just their manner of speaking. What worried me was that there weren’t many genuine reviews, but compared with other places the consultation was the longest or the second longest, and the doctor had such a calm, uncle-like feeling, which I really liked On the day I made the reservation, they rapidly rattled off the prohibited instructions, and it was like a listening test.. You really have to pay close attention. Two days before surgery, they called again to explain the instructions by phone (I was thinking wouldn’t it be better if they just sent a text or handed me a paper?). Then on the day of surgery! I booked the first slot and went in, but they told me to arrive 10 minutes early. I actually got there late at the exact surgery time, so it started late After arriving, I paid in full and they checked the amount together with me (I went ahead without putting down a deposit, which was a little unusual). Then they asked if I had eaten. I said I hadn’t eaten anything since the day before, and they said that would prolong recovery so I shouldn’t do that, then had a staff member bring me two candies from the refrigerator near the counter and told me to eat them (their tsundere vibe was insane ( ͒•·̫|) I changed clothes, washed my face, and right before going into surgery they held my eyes once more, but they didn’t show me a mirror then Since I had already made up my mind and had gone for a second consultation to decide the line and shape from both sides, I thought it would be fine and went in. The operating room was right across from the doctor’s office, and instead of a cold bed it was the kind of treatment bed you see at a dental clinic. They laid me flat on it and did the procedure there, and they had the radio on so my ears weren’t bored. Maybe because there was a procedure before me, I think I went in around 10:15. They did the sedation in the middle and the actual surgery started around 11. Before the sedation I was just lying still, and my neck hurt, so I twitched a little. The nurse said, in a very firm tone, that I must not move my head, and I was like, ah, okay.. I wish she’d said it a bit more kindly I felt a little hurt.. My neck hurt again, so I asked if I could move it a bit because it really hurt, got permission, and adjusted my posture a little. Then she said afterward that moving during surgery can cause injury, so if I wanted to move I should say so. That melted me again.. I was under sedation during the surgery and woke up in the middle, and I kept talking to the nurse like, my eyes won’t open.. all dazed and half-asleep. They kept pressing down on both eyes, so I said it hurts.. and they said they were pressing so I wouldn’t get bruises later. Since my right eye had been itchy since yesterday and I wanted to rub it, I asked them to press the right eye more, and they said, oh dear.. is it keratitis? does it itch a lot? and pressed it more gently for me I don’t know about the doctor, but most of the staff seemed pretty tsundere They started around 11, and my right eye was smaller than the left, but because it needed a lot of correction, the right side took longer than the left and was a bit harder. Throughout the whole procedure, the doctor kept comforting me, saying, you’re doing great~~ it’s almost over~~ (you all know that was a total lie, right?) When I was struggling, they’d go, mm-hm~, agreeing with me, and since the nurse hadn’t eaten lunch, my stomach kept making squeaking noises the whole time, which made it so hard not to laugh While I was opening and closing my eyes, they kept saying look here, don’t look elsewhere, and because I have astigmatism and strabismus, I tried hard to focus The doctor also seemed to keep moving between the right and left side chair, looking from different angles, and throughout the surgery it was obvious they were putting in a lot of effort to make my asymmetrical eyes look symmetrical. But every so often they would go tsk.. which made me so anxious.. After the surgery, I rested in the room next door. I looked in the mirror and thought the line had been set well, then while I was resting the front desk staff came in, told me the precautions once, and said they’d tell me again at the desk when I left, and to take photos before going. I asked four times whether I could go home alone. They repeatedly stressed that if it seemed difficult, I absolutely had to take a taxi. (They were very firm about having to follow the instructions exactly for the eye ointment and ice compresses.) They said I could come back the next day for dressing, so I made the appointment and went home. Well, I intended to, but I was feeling so fine that I finished everything I had to do and got home around 4 p.m. I walked 12,000 steps that day I had to sleep, but I wasn’t used to sleeping on a high pillow, so I basically stayed up all night and went for dressing in the morning. While dressing, they removed the tape! It was day 2, so I expected swelling, but since the early morning of the previous day bruising had started creeping up, the bruising was worse than I expected.. After the dressing, the doctor saw me before I left, said the eyes had been aligned as well as possible and that it turned out pretty, and took two photos. There wasn’t as much swelling as I expected, but bruising shows up easily, so they told me to manage the bruises well. Before leaving, when I asked how I was supposed to practice opening my eyes, if I squeezed hard the right side seemed to pull toward the back and my temples hurt, while the left side seemed to lack strength, so I asked whether I should force both eyes open hard. They said that could happen, because the right side needed more correction. Because the right side had more bruising and swelling, it would probably be harder to open, and if opening my eyes felt hard and difficult I could rest. They asked if I had any more questions, and even at the very end they treated me so carefully, which I really liked I couldn’t ask about the AS period, but I saw in another post that they said one year, so I’m planning to ask again when I go to remove the stitches the day after tomorrow. For the s/o appointment, they said to split it into two visits on days 5 and 7. Day 5 was for all stitches removal and day 7 for the inner corner, but because of work I don’t think I can go then, so I asked if I could do it next Saturday. They said no because stitch marks would remain. So, with the doctor’s approval, I decided to have all the s/o done on day 6 and go home. But~ I still didn’t go straight back; I finished all my errands, left at 8:30 a.m., and got home at 3 p.m. I did ice compresses 4 times on day 1, 4 times on day 2, and 3 times on day 3. They told me to do cold compresses only up to day 2, but because of swelling + the stitches stinging like crazy, I did them on day 3 too. This morning, I felt a twitch-like sensation at the inner front of the right eye, and I looked in the mirror right away. I couldn’t really notice any change, but I’m worried that one of the stitches may have come loose.. I’ll call tomorrow and ask about the stitches, and I’ll have to ask about AS when I go. It’s a pretty common double-eyelid surgery, but I also have nose surgery coming up in July, so my dream is to become a pretty surgically enhanced beauty, and this was the first step ㅎㅅㅎ
Anyway, what do you think of the line? Since I have uneven eyes, I did mention during the consultation that the inner corner widening would be done differently to match the symmetry! The inner corner on the left seems a little round, so I kind of want it widened a bit more, but what worries me most is that the left outer line looks like a double fold. I’m really worried whether that will get better after the stitches are removed..
