Nose Re-Surgery

I had my silicone removed yesterday

Yesterday, I finally had the silicone removed. It was a straight silicone implant about 2-3 mm, first placed in 2015, and the silicone was replaced in summer 2017. Both were open procedures. Yesterday, at a hospital specializing in removal, I had the silicone removed and the cartilage repositioned. I thought ear cartilage had been used for the nasal tip and the support strut, but when they opened it, they said there was nothing in the nasal tip and that ear cartilage had only been used in the support strut! So I left that in. There were no other foreign materials.

Day of surgery - The biggest reason I chose the hospital was their kindness. Both the consultant and the doctor were kind, but the doctor came to the hospital an hour late on the day of surgery..? I was really dumbfounded, but the consultants were apologizing too, and since there was nothing they could do, they were flustered. I was the first surgery of the day, but they called the day before and pushed it back by an hour (10 -> 11), and in the end the surgery started after 12. I saw the doctor’s face after 12. There were also a huge number of patients waiting. I felt something was a bit strange about this, but... it was a surgery I had been waiting for, so I just thought I should get it done today, and went ahead while only hoping it would go well. The consultation with the doctor was shorter than I expected too. Maybe because I had seen reviews saying they work hard... The surgery itself was really short. It finished within 20 minutes, and I think I slept for about 15 minutes? I woke up near the end. In the past I had it done at a large hospital, so this time I wanted to do it at a private clinic, and the feeling was definitely different. It felt like the entire hospital staff was assigned to my surgery?? The consultant stayed there the whole time too. Anyway, I was upset that it was delayed, but I did feel like they were doing their best, so I wasn’t anxious.

Because I had the removal done through a closed approach, I only have nasal packing on one side, and right now I have a splint and taping on. They said the nasal tip would be similar, so maybe that’s why it still looks similar, though it could be swelling, and I’ll only know after the splint comes off..? I’m going to have it removed on Monday, and I’ll leave another review then too. Please ask if you have any questions. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to write the hospital information.. Should I tell you in a private comment? I went after worrying a lot about brokers too, so I hope you won’t suspect me of being a broker
