I had a consultation for the three facial contouring procedures. First of all, the hospital was quite impressive. It had three floors in total, starting from the rooftop, and from the rooftop you can see everything from the Gangnam roads all the way to Namsan Tower.
The consultation manager and others were reasonably kind. There was no excessive request for add-ons or any pressure to make a reservation. They said the cost for facial contouring would be going up soon, but they honestly said they did not know exactly when. That part felt honest to me. This was something that had also been mentioned repeatedly on other communities.
I met with the doctor who is also well known on YouTube and such. In YouTube videos, he seemed a bit more confident and direct in style, but when I actually had the consultation, he felt a little more relaxed than what I had seen in the videos, and if I exaggerate a bit, he was almost like a neighborhood doctor. I do not mean that in a bad way at all. Since he is already very handsome and has a celebrity? kind of feel in YouTube videos and many people see him that way, I actually liked that he felt less intimidating.
Anyway, as for the surgery, like at other hospitals, he said I was basically the type who could see quite a significant effect. Especially for the square jaw area, compared with other places, he said that based on the area below the ear, about 65% or more could be cut. At other places, I think it was around 50-60%.
For the chin tip, he said they would proceed in an S-shaped form. Honestly, I said that at other places they talked about bone shaving even for the chin tip, but personally, I also thought that instead of bone shaving, something like a T-shaped osteotomy would be needed so the protruding chin could be set back. He said there are pros and cons, and that there is a limit to bone shaving alone. If only shaving is done, too much of the outer bone gets cut away, and I cannot remember the exact name, but some bone would almost all be cut away at the surface, which could lead to something similar to other side effects, so he said it seemed right to cut the bone line itself in an S or T shape.
Of course, if only bone shaving is done, it can prevent sagging that occurs around the chin, but since I already do not have much soft tissue, the likelihood of that is low. If an S-shape or T-shape is done, there is the disadvantage of needing screws and such, but for the most definite effect, this seems to be the right method. Of course, what surgical method is used is a matter of each doctor's choice, and it is not possible to say what is right or wrong, but at this point, I think this is the most appropriate. He also said that of course, no one tries to avoid using screws as much as he himself does, but nevertheless, for my facial shape, it seems right to use them. When comparing getting results without using them versus getting results using them, the maximum effect achievable with a T or S osteotomy looks much better. That is what he told me. I found it quite trustworthy.
For the cheekbone area as well, he said he would push it in as much as possible, but as a man, with a bit of volume, so to speak, leaving a slight degree of cheekbone projection, so it would not look too feminine. He said that degree of difference would be created through consultation. He said he would not make it fall completely straight down like a vertical line when viewed from the forehead.
