Breast Surgery Reviews

Breast surgery review at Melon (2 weeks post-op)

*I received the surgery on the condition that I write a photo/review post, but I have written this as honestly as possible!

Really, really...

1. Preoperative measurements and condition Body measurements: rib cage 71 cm / breast width 12 cm on each side Body type: slightly pectus carinatum / prone to keloids Implants: Mentor Xtra high, 470 cc each side (inframammary incision) > currently a 70D–E cup Notes: I had surgery for a breast nodule in the past, leaving a large keloid scar beneath my breast.

2. Why I chose the clinic and surgeon Since the surgeon is a female doctor, I felt comfortable and gained confidence from the consultation. I was firmly on Team Mentor, so I was worried after seeing reviews saying they slightly pressured patients to choose Motiva. However, neither the coordinator nor the surgeon pressured me toward any particular implant, and both explained everything in detail!

They wrote the consultation details carefully in something like a mini-booklet, which was very convenient to look over after I got home. I was especially worried because I am prone to keloids, and they paid great attention to this. I already had a large scar along the inframammary line from my previous breast-nodule surgery, but during the operation they also gave me a scar injection there and said they would continue caring for it with me, which really touched me.... Also, as an international student, I had to leave the country within a month, so I was in a hurry, but they kept coordinating my aftercare schedule around my departure schedule! My mother had strongly opposed the surgery because she was worried it might be dangerous, but on the day of surgery she met the doctor and had a consultation, then felt reassured and went home right away. They were that kind and attentive!

This was the first clinic where I had a consultation. Honestly, I was also being lazy (...) and my schedule was tight, so I booked the surgery right away. I was lucky that it was such a good clinic, but everyone else should definitely visit many clinics and deliberate carefully before choosing the one that suits them!

3. Surgery day, pain, and hospitalization I had general anesthesia before for facial-contouring surgery, and I remembered having a very sore throat and feeling awful, so I was really worried. This time, surprisingly, it did not hurt at all—I thought I had received sedation! So amazing.

Because the surgery was done through inframammary incisions, there was almost no pain at the surgical site itself, but until the end of the first week it was very uncomfortable to lie down and get up by myself. Since I could not lift anything heavy at all, help from family was absolutely essential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those living alone should definitely ask their family for SOS help.

The hospital room was a spacious, clean private room, so I was able to rest comfortably. The night-shift nurse was especially, really kind, so if you have surgery at this clinic, I absolutely recommend staying overnight. Every time I visited, there was only about one group of waiting patients, so it was quiet and not crowded, which I also liked.

4. What could be improved (disadvantages) Since it is a private clinic, the facility is somewhat small. The inpatient room itself was spacious and very nice, but the bathroom was not inside the clinic; I had to go out to the bathroom on the building floor. [Clinic A] uses the entire floor, but when I was hospitalized, it was a little inconvenient and scary to drag my IV around at night.

Also, the inpatient room was not soundproof, so I could clearly hear the person in the next room struggling throughout the night. Because of that, I kept my earphones in and watched YouTube. These are probably the only drawbacks I can think of!

5. Current status at 2 weeks and overall impression It has only been 2 weeks, so everything is still firm and I need to wait longer to see the final shape, but overall I am very satisfied. If you are deliberating over breast surgery, I recommend having a consultation!
