Having thick upper arms and making my upper body look larger overall was the most stressful thing for me. I hated how tight the arm area felt even when wearing cardigans or short sleeves (I didn’t even dare wear sleeveless tops lol), and I was always self-conscious about my arms when taking photos. There were honestly so many photos I deleted afterward because of my arms lol. I tried dieting and followed famous upper-arm exercises on YouTube, but my upper arms absolutely never got slimmer. Then I gained a little weight early this year lol, and when I saw a photo my friend took, my arms had gone...... beyond the point where I could just pretend not to notice them lol. Suddenly, as if struck by lightning, I thought I really had to get surgery. From that day, I looked into clinics and went to consultations, and eventually had the surgery. People around me told me to wait until it got cooler because surgery in summer would be hot and compression garments would be uncomfortable, but I felt that when I made up my mind, I should do it, so I just went ahead lol. I had the front and back of both arms, as well as the armpit area, treated together. The swelling, bruising, and pain were not as severe as I expected. After surgery, wearing the compression garment was harder than the pain itself lol. The major swelling and bruising went down a lot after about a week, but the bruising lasted longer than expected, for about two weeks. I haven’t fully settled yet, so I need to keep watching, but so far I personally keep thinking, “I should have done it sooner...” Especially thinking about how I used to wear a shirt over sleeveless tops every summer because of my arms, I feel a little wronged lol. Now, a little over one month later, some firmness remains and I feel a slight pulling sensation, but I’m receiving aftercare diligently and monitoring it. It isn’t the final result yet, so I’ll have to wait longer, but I’m already satisfied just because I’m less conscious of my arms when getting dressed than I used to be.
