Eye Surgery Reviews

Review of my second revision double-eyelid surgery (third surgery overall)

I had my first and second double-eyelid surgeries elsewhere. At first, I was young and wanted very large eyes no matter what, so I got greedy and made the line too thick, ending up with sausage eyes. My eyes felt heavy, and I had to use my forehead every time I opened them; on bad days, I even had headaches. Because the double-eyelid line was so thick, I gradually started wearing heavier makeup to cover it. When I removed my makeup, my eyes looked almost as if the line had completely disappeared, so I hated looking in the mirror. Eventually I decided on revision surgery, but foolishly had it done at the same clinic as my first surgery and failed again. I wanted to change from an out-fold to an in-fold, but only the eyelid thickness was reduced slightly and the overall shape was almost identical. (Later I found that the clinic had gone out of business.) I lived like that for about nine years. This time I thought I really had to do it properly, searched hard in person, chose a clinic, and had my second revision surgery. This was already my third double-eyelid surgery. During the consultation, rather than saying it would definitely turn out well, they carefully explained what was realistically possible given my current eyes, which I appreciated. They said ptosis correction was also necessary, so I chose incision surgery plus ptosis correction. However, because my eyes had been badly operated on during the first surgery, they warned me in advance that existing adhesions might prevent the result from being perfectly shaped as I wanted. At first after surgery, I was very satisfied because I felt I had finally escaped uneven eyes and sausage eyes. Best of all, I no longer had to strain my forehead every time I opened my eyes like before. But as the swelling went down and about three months passed, an additional crease began forming in my right eye alongside the existing line. Eventually the double-eyelid line became two lines. The left was fine, but only the right had become like an out-fold again. The clinic had warned me beforehand that this was possible, and I could have had another revision if I wanted. But I did not have time then and kept putting it off, and suddenly a year and a half had passed. I will go back to the clinic for a consultation soon, but I am already depressed at the thought of another surgery. Can eyes that have already been badly operated on never be restored?
