Eye Surgery Reviews

My dark circles disappeared along with under-eye fat repositioning

I had never even considered under-eye fat repositioning. But after seeing photos from my wedding ceremony, I was shocked and suddenly booked under-eye fat repositioning and fat grafting lol. I had tear troughs under my eyes, dark circles, and needed fat repositioning. So on the very day of my consultation, I went ahead with under-eye fat repositioning plus fat grafting to the anterior cheek area at Lowell Plastic Surgery with Dr. Kim Daehwa. On the day of surgery there was swelling, and I could feel tightness around my eyes even when still. Washing my face and showering without getting water in my eyes was harder than the pain. For about 10 days after surgery, I slept with my pillow elevated; I did not bother with compresses. During week 1, I could feel the major swelling gradually going down. In weeks 2–3, the major swelling was gone, but minor swelling remained and it still hurt when touched. From week 4 to now (one month and two weeks later), most of the minor swelling has gone down. There is no visible swelling, but perhaps because of residual internal swelling, touching the area while washing my face or applying makeup still causes a foreign-body sensation and slight pain. My dark circles had always been severe. After surgery the under-eye area became flatter, though other people do not notice much. The discomfort and foreign-body sensation on the left disappeared a week after surgery, while the right side, which had more fat, had reduced sensation around the aegyo-sal area until week 3. It gradually improved, and now I only feel slight discomfort when touching it, so it was absolutely worth doing. I also grafted fat into hollow areas around the anterior cheeks. People around me said that the front of my face looked fuller and therefore slimmer. Personally, I think I would be more satisfied doing fat grafting together rather than under-eye treatment alone! Since my face was asymmetrical to begin with, the doctor tried to balance the surgery symmetrically, so more fat was removed on the right, and the pain and swelling differed between the sides. Now, in photos, the left side is smooth as if filtered, while the right still has slight swelling; there is no pain in my nose at all! Fat was harvested from my abdomen. There was no major pain, just slight discomfort when running or tensing my abdomen, and it lasted about three weeks. The pain from removing the fat was less than the pain from applying and removing the waterproof bandage for showering. If I could go back before surgery, I would probably have fat grafting to the front cheeks, which had always bothered me, done at Lowell again with Dr. Kim Daehwa. Overall, I am satisfied that I had under-eye treatment and fat grafting at the same time.
