Eye Surgery Reviews

Revision of lateral and lower canthoplasty

After lateral and lower canthoplasty, my eyes looked too long and large, making me feel they did not suit my face, and I was stressed for a long time. One eye in particular had severe adhesion, causing the lower eyelid to droop, and the shapes of my eyes looked very different, so I decided to have revision surgery. After looking into several clinics, I consulted at [Clinic A]. I did not simply want smaller eyes; I wanted them to return as naturally as possible to how they looked before surgery. I showed Dr. Kim Hyun-soo photos of my original eyes and asked him to preserve their original impression as much as possible. During surgery, he released the existing internal fixation and adhesions, and proceeded with the goal of preserving as much tissue as possible while assessing my eye condition rather than automatically removing skin. I especially appreciated that he did not remove additional skin. The doctor honestly explained that returning 100% to exactly how they were before would be difficult, which actually made me trust him more. At first I worried a lot because of the swelling and asymmetry, but as time passed I could see the outer corners gradually lifting and the lower eyelids becoming more natural. The overly elongated, slit-like appearance decreased, and I am satisfied that my eyes seem to be getting closer to the natural, comfortable look I wanted. Most importantly, they carefully monitored my progress after surgery and explained things in detail whenever I had questions during recovery, which I appreciated. I think the results and recovery from revision surgery can vary greatly depending on the condition of the previous surgery and the degree of adhesion. In my case, I was most satisfied that the doctor proceeded carefully according to my eye condition without overdoing it. I am not fully recovered yet, but I can definitely feel that my eyes look much more natural than before surgery, and I feel much more at ease. If your eyes became too long after lateral and lower canthoplasty, or if you are considering revision because of asymmetry or adhesions, I hope you will get a thorough consultation before deciding.
