I had revision rhinoplasty with autologous costal cartilage at [Clinic A]! For my first surgery, they only performed osteotomy using donor rib cartilage and ear cartilage without silicone, but over time it was absorbed and the tip gradually drooped T_T. My original nose was not particularly low, but from the side the drooping tip made it look blunt and hump-like in photos, which was really stressful. I visited almost every clinic known for revision rhinoplasty, and [Clinic A] paid the most attention to my face and nose, so I chose it. Since the donor rib cartilage used in my first surgery had been absorbed and caused drooping, I chose autologous costal cartilage this time. It is more difficult to handle and costs more, but I was told it has a lower absorption risk, so I thought it suited me better for revision surgery. I wanted a glamorous yet natural-looking nose rather than something overly artificial, and I hoped the tip would be higher than before. The doctor immediately understood what I wanted. The day after surgery, I was less swollen than expected, so I thought my condition was quite good. Around day three, however, the area where the rib cartilage was harvested hurt somewhat, making that the hardest point; after getting through it, I felt better again. Before, my nose looked broad and low, so I practically caked on contouring whenever I wore makeup lol. As soon as the splint came off, my nose looked completely slim and refined, which was amazing. I walked for one to two hours a day and drank pumpkin juice to manage my recovery. By week two, it looked much more natural than at week one. Now it has been nearly a month, and I like the glamorous, extended nasal line from the side the most. As my nose became higher, my mouth looks less prominent, my face looks smaller, and all my features seem more defined overall. I hardly contour anymore, so makeup takes less time. Since I used autologous rib cartilage, I no longer have to worry about absorption or drooping like before, and I feel much more at ease. The clinic carefully managed my swelling during recovery, and the doctor checked my progress attentively each time. Sometimes I wonder how things would have been if I had started here, but I feel that I achieved the nose I wanted on my second try, so I am truly satisfied!
