1. First surgery: 2015–2016 (I do not remember exactly), Dr. Lee Jae-soo Ideal result: natural-looking, realistic breasts (B–C cup) Satisfaction: ★★★★★★★★★★★★ I had my first breast augmentation in my early twenties! Having small breasts was my biggest insecurity, so I promised myself I would get breast surgery as soon as I became an adult. At that time, even the Gangnam Unni app did not exist yet, so I searched Babitalk and online cafés and visited about 30 clinics. I think I went to almost every clinic in Seoul at the time, starting with large hospitals. But I honestly do not remember why I decided on Dr. Lee Jae-soo for my first surgery (before he opened [Clinic A]). Still, my priority was a natural and safe operation, so I probably chose him because he made me feel the most reassured. For more than ten years after the first surgery, absolutely nobody knew I had breast surgery (even now, nobody except my family knows haha). Since high school I had worn padded bras and looked like a full A to B cup, and because I had surgery right away in my early twenties, even my closest friends did not know. It turned out so natural and pretty that even one of my ex-boyfriends said he had not known I had breast surgery until I told him. In my late twenties, some friends also had breast surgery, and they touched my breasts because they wanted to compare them with augmented breasts haha. My breasts are augmented too, but the conclusion is that it was a truly satisfying surgery. 2. Revision surgery (1) Why I decided on revision I decided on revision because of an implant issue. These days people choose among Motiva, Mentor, and Bouncy, but when I had my first surgery, the accepted belief in the cosmetic-surgery community was that Mentor Smooth had the highest risk of capsular contracture. Allergan and microtextured implants were popular. But you know, right? Those implants were relatively unsafe because they could cause rare cancers or had higher rupture rates. So I decided to change to a safer implant. Motiva is also said to be safe, but considering the difference in clinical history, I thought Mentor was safer. Taking texture into account, Xtra seemed best, so I chose Mentor Xtra. (2) Why I chose Dr. Lee Jae-soo for revision When I had my first surgery, Dr. Lee was working at a different plastic-surgery clinic, not [Clinic A]. After one or two years, you usually stop going to the hospital for follow-up, right? When I was in my early twenties, I wanted a follow-up after one or two years, so I called the clinic where I had surgery and learned that Dr. Lee had moved to another clinic. If it were me now, I would probably just get checked at a nearby clinic, but I went all the way to [Clinic A] for a follow-up. Dr. Lee even treated my scars with a laser then. Maybe because I am left-handed, the scar on the right was clean, but the left still had slightly more pigmentation. I was really touched that he took such good care of me even though I had not had surgery at [Clinic A]. Writing this makes me sound demanding too haha. There is a phrase in the comments on a YouTube video featuring Dr. Lee saying he is like “a professor who teaches engineering well.” Although he might look stiff in some ways, there is no surgeon as sincere as Dr. Lee. In conclusion, breast surgery is a very major operation, and I know extremely well how painful it can be, so I think a breast-specialist clinic is better than a factory-style plastic-surgery clinic. Since I had been living extremely satisfied with my breasts and considered them truly mine after my first surgery, I had already decided to have the revision with Dr. Lee before even going to [Clinic A] for a consultation. I wanted to go straight to [Clinic A] for a consultation, but the clinic was on summer vacation. Since I had already taken time off for the consultation, I used the remaining time to consult at several clinics known for breast revisions. Strangely, the more consultations I had elsewhere, the more certain I became that I should do it at [Clinic A]. The reason is simply based on my experience, so it is difficult to explain in detail. ★★★★★★★★ Also, most of the clinics I consulted recommended an inframammary incision rather than an axillary incision. They said revision surgery is difficult and risky, so it should be done through the inframammary fold. But Dr. Lee recommended an axillary incision. Having very large scars on my breasts was a huge insecurity, so I really did not want an inframammary incision. Before I even mentioned my insecurity, Dr. Lee looked at the chart from my previous surgery and said that, considering my situation, an axillary incision was the right choice. He said that although an axillary incision is technically difficult, the two approaches are essentially the same, and the difficulty only means the surgery takes him longer; the difference in the risks I would have to accept was not large. Does that not make you feel really reassured? ★★★★★★★★ (3) Revision review: Surprisingly little pain I told you my breasts had originally been extremely small, right? I loved my breasts so much that I told Dr. Lee I hoped they would look just like my current breasts even after revision. He said that since I was having surgery anyway, I could be a little more ambitious and also have fat grafting to the cleavage area. Fat grafting to the cleavage had always been recommended when I consulted other clinics and during my first-surgery consultation, so I had it done too! Maybe because it was revision surgery, it was surprisingly painless;;;; Honestly, waking up from anesthesia hurt terribly, but once I left the recovery room, it was so painless that I was amazed. The compression bra was uncomfortable, and because I also had fat grafting, the thigh where fat was harvested hurt. The photos are not very flattering because I am still wearing the compression bra, but I like them; I thought my breasts were perfect after the first surgery, but apparently there were breasts even more perfect for my body;;;; I know how much I love the breasts Dr. Lee sculpted for me, so I hope I recover quickly.
