I begged my parents for months just to get a nose job. When I first said I wanted one, both my mom and dad were completely opposed They said, “Why touch a perfectly fine face?” and “They say you might need revision surgery if you mess up your nose, so can’t you just live with it?” My mom especially worried a lot about nose surgery itself, so at first she didn’t even want to hear me say I would just have a consultation. But I didn’t suddenly get the urge; my nose had stressed me out for years. My bridge was low and the tip was blunt and bulbous, so whenever I took photos, I noticed my nose first It was a bigger insecurity than people might think.
Without even getting my parents’ permission, I started by searching extensively for nose-surgery reviews and researching clinics. I kept showing my mom photos of the nose I wanted and before-and-after photos, explaining that I didn’t want an extremely high or flashy nose; I wanted to define my bridge and tip in a way that suited my face. Eventually, because she knew I genuinely wanted it, my mom said we should at least have a proper consultation and not do it just anywhere. As soon as she said that, I booked a consultation at Hyundai Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the place I liked most while reading reviews, and went with my mom.
At the consultation, they said that rather than simply raising my nose, it was important to shape the bridge and tip together according to my overall facial proportions. We decided to raise the bridge with silicone and use septal cartilage together with donor rib cartilage for the tip. Honestly, I was a little scared when I first heard about donor rib cartilage. I thought they would use only ear cartilage or septal cartilage. But the doctor explained that because my skin was relatively thick, donor rib cartilage would be a good option for defining the tip as much as I wanted, so I considered it and chose it! Dr. Kang was also great because when I asked a question, he didn’t just give a short answer and move on; he explained things very sincerely. My mom asked tons of questions beside me, and he answered every one. Even my mom, who had strongly opposed the surgery at first, said afterward that the doctor seemed good and that if I was going to do it here, it seemed okay to proceed.
So I finally got permission and even scheduled the nose surgery I had wanted so badly!! But after begging for months, when the surgery date got close, I suddenly became even more nervous. What if it was too high? What if it didn’t suit me? I thought of all sorts of things. My mom teased me, saying I had begged her to do it and was now scared. At first, there was swelling and the tip was hard, so the shape wasn’t clear, but after removing the splint and gradually reducing the swelling, the impression changed completely. It wasn’t just that my bridge became higher; defining the tip as well made the center of my face look much more three-dimensional, and my side profile became clearer!!
Looking at the before-and-after photos, I think the difference in my tip is especially big. Before, the blunt tip made me look stuffy from the front, but now that the tip has been defined, I look much cleaner, haha. The bridge isn’t raised awkwardly on its own; the line continues naturally through the tip, exactly the feeling I wanted. The funniest thing is that even my parents, who had opposed the surgery so strongly, now say I made the right choice. My mom says it turned out more natural than she expected, and my dad looked at the before-and-after photos and said my overall impression had definitely changed. I had spent months clinging to my mom and dad, singing the same song about wanting a nose job, so if the result had been bad, I would have heard about it for the rest of my life. Thankfully, it seems to have turned out just how I wanted, so I’m extremely satisfied.
