4.5-Year Review of SMILE LASIK

I wore glasses from the lower grades of elementary school, and from 1st or 2nd year of middle school, I wore circle lenses for 10 years. Long-term circle lens use seemed to have made my dry eye worse, and I was also tired of getting used to how I looked with circle lenses on, so I decided to get SMILE LASIK before it was too late. After quitting my job, I went to an ophthalmology clinic in Gangnam through an acquaintance’s introduction. My vision was bad in both eyes, around minus 5 to 6, and I also had astigmatism. Since I had made up my mind, I thought I might as well go ahead with the procedure, so I didn’t consult anywhere else and had surgery the same day at the first hospital I visited. The consultation was in the morning, and I remember the surgery was around 4 p.m. At that time there were two directors, and I chose to proceed with the female director. I ate before surgery, came back on time, but the female director had gone home saying she wasn’t feeling well, so I was told I had to proceed with the male director lol. I already felt a bit put off at that point, but he was the chief director too, and they said they would still do it at the originally scheduled time, so I waited. In the end, they didn’t call my name even past 6 p.m.? When I and my companion, angry after waiting so long, asked when I would go in, only then did they call my name, prepare me for surgery in advance, and still keep me waiting inside. And then I was the last one to get the procedure ^^ The procedure on both eyes felt like it took under 3 minutes in total, and when I came out afterward, the desk staff had already changed clothes and were on their way home lol. That also left me feeling not great. Right after the procedure, I felt dizzy, so after I got home I took Tylenol and slept a bit, and then I felt fine right away. My vision improved to around 1.5 to 1.8, and recently it feels like it has dropped a bit compared with before, but I still seem to get around 1.2. As a side effect, one eye in particular gets somewhat hazy? There is that kind of symptom, but it isn’t bothersome enough to really get in the way. In fact, that eye had a lower vision reading even right after the procedure. It’s not a hospital I would recommend, and if I could turn back time I would do it somewhere else. Even after a discount, I remember it costing 2.2 to 2.5 million won in January 2022.
