Vision-correction surgery absolutely calls for a friend discount! Smile LASEK was expensive, so I went through a friend and to a factory-style clinic. Corneal strengthening wasn't necessary, so I got it done a bit cheaper than most people. I lay down on the operating table and it was over in 5 to 10 minutes. An insane amount of pain hit about an hour later. It felt like rubbing my eyes with sand or glass dust. All I could do was cry. According to a friend who works in the ER, there are actually people who come in after LASEK crying nonstop from the pain The next day my eyes looked really swollen and puffy, like this. Ugh... I should have gone with LASIK instead of LASEK... I don't think I'd ever do it again Anyway, even now, 6 years later, I can see really well and I'm still at 1.5 vision. If you wear sunglasses well, it seems like you can maintain it for a long time. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, you're honestly a fool not to get it done. Contacts are only pretty when you're young; when you get older, they're gross.
