Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

10 months after IVRO double jaw surgery: it feels so natural now that I almost forget I had surgery haha

This is my 10-month update after double jaw surgery (IVRO) + contouring surgery:) I had the surgery with Dr. Shin Hee-jin at Lee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery! Because of my temporomandibular joint issues, I went through almost every treatment that was possible and suffered for a really long time Actually, I had already had a consultation at Lee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 5 years ago, and at that time they explained that in some cases IVRO double jaw surgery can improve TMJ symptoms. But they were honest and told me the chance of the result was 50:50, so I could not make the decision easily and kept worrying until a lot of time passed Then the pain gradually got worse and became impossible to endure any longer, so with the mindset of 'all or nothing, I might as well try it!' I finally decided to have the surgery. The functional reason was the biggest one, but I also wanted to improve the cosmetic side, so I had contouring surgery at the same time. And even after 5 years, the biggest reason I chose Lee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery again was that unlike other hospitals, they did not recommend excessive surgery or unnecessary surgery and only suggested what was truly needed. I looked up so many reviews too, and there were many cases where the face changed naturally in a way that suited the person, and many reviews after double jaw + contouring surgery said the impression did not change too drastically but settled in naturally as if it had always been their original face, which made me trust them even more. So even after 5 years, I chose Lee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dr. Shin Hee-jin without hesitation haha It has finally been 10 months since the surgery, and now daily life feels so natural that I almost forget I even had surgery. I can eat most foods comfortably, and I almost never have to think about my jaw when talking or laughing. What I feel most strongly at 10 months is that my face has really settled in naturally. In the beginning, as the swelling went down I could feel small changes every month, but now the overall facial line has stabilized and it feels much more like my original face. People around me also say it is so natural that they would not know I had surgery unless I told them first, and I feel like my satisfaction keeps growing every time I look in the mirror haha When I take photos now, I do not have to keep worrying about angles like before, and even unedited photos show a naturally refined jawline, so the stress from taking pictures has really gone down. My smile feels much more comfortable too, and my overall impression seems softer, so these days I actually enjoy taking photos more haha Most of all, the part I am happiest about is still the functional change. Before, my TMJ problems made daily life itself difficult, but now eating is so much more comfortable and I almost never think about my jaw anymore. Because I spent so long worrying about whether to get the surgery, I now keep thinking, 'Why did I not do it sooner?' If you are considering double jaw surgery or contouring surgery, recovery is definitely needed, but I have personally felt that as time passes, satisfaction with both the functional and aesthetic results can keep increasing:) Especially by around 10 months, the stability feels incomparable to the early stage, and now it really feels like it has naturally become my face. I will keep managing the rest of the recovery well and come back with my 1-year review! haha
