I had incisional double-eyelid surgery, epicanthoplasty, and ptosis correction 10 years ago, and when I was younger I insisted that I wanted it to look natural no matter what. Because of that, the design was set too low, so now I’m going around to consultations to raise the line! - I have protruding eyes, currently an inline shape, and I heard from several places that because the skin is thin on the side where the line is set low, non-incisional surgery is also possible.
Common opinion from the directors: The inner corners of the eyes slope down steeply, making the eyes look sharp, and the line design itself is low.
1. ㄱㄴ (Director ㅇㄱㅎ): Incision + revision epicanthoplasty on one side He said to raise it by really just about one stitch from the current line. When I said I wanted it higher, he opposed it, and also opposed upper epicanthoplasty. He opposed lateral/lower canthoplasty too, saying my eyes would droop. He pursues a very natural look, and suggested only a slight additional epicanthoplasty on one eye plus changing the eye design through incision. When he held the line, it looked so natural that I wanted to be a bit greedier and raise it more, but he opposed it and only held the line once. Reasonable price.
2. ㅇㅇㅋㅌ: Natural adhesion + revision epicanthoplasty on one side Even though my eyes had incisional surgery before, the scars are clean and fine, but to meet my needs, they said the line could be raised just a little, and because my skin is thin, non-incisional surgery is possible. No one can guarantee when it might come undone. They did say my eyes don’t look like they would come undone easily.
3. ㅇㅁㄹ (Director ㄷㅇㄹ): Incision + upper epicanthoplasty (a bit more epicanthoplasty on one side) Because I currently have an inline crease, he said upper epicanthoplasty is essential if I want the in-out line I want, because of the Mongolian fold. He held the line several times, and I liked the eye line, but I saw it while wearing a mask, so I don’t know whether it would suit my overall facial balance. He held both lines too, and strongly opposed lateral/lower canthoplasty, saying it could create scleral show. He said my eyes are protruding, so if the line is even slightly misplaced, they could become sausage eyes, so the line has to be set carefully. The line was pretty, but the upper eyelid area protruded slightly (he said it can only be resolved with a forehead lift). He spoke confidently and the clinic had many people, so I’m leaning toward this place, but since there are also directors who oppose upper epicanthoplasty, I’m hesitating.
4. ㅇㅂㅅ (Director ㅅㅈㅎ): Both non-incisional and incisional possible + epicanthoplasty on one side + fat repositioning above the eyes When I told him I have protruding eyes and that the swelling around my eyes goes down more at night, he said that if doing incision to prevent future multiple creases, he would reposition the fat above the eyebrows.
5. ㅇㄷㅍ (Director ㄱㅇㅌ): Partial incision + upper epicanthoplasty He recommended raising the line only slightly and doing upper epicanthoplasty, and said doing additional epicanthoplasty on one side probably isn’t necessary. He had me take off my mask and held the line, and he was kind. The price was reasonable too.
6. ㅁㅊㅍ: If I really do it, buried-suture method They said that to get the eyes I want, I would need a forehead lift, but they don’t perform forehead lifts. They recommended buried-suture surgery to raise the line only slightly, and opposed doing a slight upper epicanthoplasty or epicanthoplasty on one side. They said I probably wouldn’t get the result I want, so they refused to do the surgery.
I really looked into it hard online, read reviews, narrowed places down, and went to consultations, but the opinions are split so evenly depending on each director’s tendencies that I still can’t decide… I do have reservations at ㄱㄴ and ㅇㅁㄹ right now, but their opinions are opposite too, so I’m also thinking of going to more clinics.. Going around to consultations is so exhausting, and I want to feel like, “This is the place,” too.. but it’s hard. At ㅇㅁㄹ, I liked it when I had a mask on and only looked at the eyes, but I keep hesitating because I wonder whether my features would look harmonious when I take the mask off.. It’s hard.
