Revision Rhinoplasty Review (Decision Before Surgery)

This is my revision rhinoplasty review. I have a rather broad face, prominent cheekbones and jaw, a short nose, and somewhat protruding lips. I do not like having photos taken, so taking and keeping photos of myself felt awkward and very difficult. It is embarrassing, but I will upload unfiltered photos^^;; My post is long, but I hope this review may be of even a little help to older people, those considering revision or multiple-revision surgery, those with contracture, and those whose facial left-right symmetry does not align well. This time, I had surgery with Dr. Kyu-ho Lee at O&Young Plastic Surgery, and I am 49 years old (48 by international age). I decided to undergo surgery again after about 12 years. Twelve years ago, I had surgery using donated costal cartilage. Fortunately, I did well after surgery without any particular complications. Then, two years ago, I hit my nose hard while exercising. From that point, I kept becoming concerned about my nose and realized contracture was progressing. My nose had gradually become lower and shorter than it was 12 years ago, but it seems this had progressed so slowly that I did not notice it myself. As I considered surgery again, I was already older, so choosing the clinic and surgeon was important. However, I had known O&Young Plastic Surgery for a long time and was already familiar with the doctor's abilities, so I had thought that if I ever had surgery again, it should be with Dr. Kyu-ho Lee. I made an appointment for a consultation. Since I live outside Seoul, visiting Seoul required time and courage. I took a day off and went to Seoul. * Clinic atmosphere O&Young Plastic Surgery had an overall calm and quiet atmosphere. Even while waiting for my consultation, I felt it was a relatively private and comfortable environment. The staff were also kind and guided me calmly, which put me at ease. * Finally meeting the doctor: consultation review Dr. Kyu-ho Lee explained in detail the current condition of my nose and the factors to consider for revision surgery. Rather than simply discussing the nose shape I wanted, he first examined my nose's current condition and explained well which aspects required a careful approach because it was a revision. I also learned during the consultation that the donated costal cartilage used 12 years ago had gradually weakened over time and might have already crumbled inside as though it had decayed. In addition, my nose had settled in a slightly crooked position relative to my teeth. Even before, when I occasionally took pictures, I felt that only one corner of my mouth rose when I smiled or that it looked crooked. It seems that neither my nose nor my mouth had good left-right symmetry. I wanted a nose that looked natural while being internally healthy and structurally strong. I was especially concerned about contracture and possible complications, and because of my age, I considered the material for revision surgery important. In my case, he recommended using autologous costal cartilage and ear cartilage. Since mine was already an operated nose, I liked that he considered not only changing its height or shape but also ensuring it could remain stable in the future. I felt I had done well to come straight to the doctor after all. With complete faith and trust in him, I was able to decide quickly. I could take an extended vacation during the summer, so I had surgery in hot weather, but it was fine regardless of the weather. * Why I decided on surgery at O&Young I trusted the doctor's career, experience, and know-how. He is also very meticulous. I liked his experience with revisions, his accurate understanding of my nose's current condition, and his approach of considering future stability as well. I was worried that the autologous costal cartilage site might hurt, but after receiving a sufficient explanation, my vague concerns gradually became more settled. I had revision surgery with Dr. Kyu-ho Lee, and it has now settled into a very natural appearance, just as I wished. I think revision and multiple-revision surgeries come with more worries than an initial surgery and require much deliberation before deciding. I hope my experience can be of even a little help to those who, like me, are considering revision after a long time, those who hesitate because of age, or those with many worries due to contracture or complications.
