The doctor was kind and showed me a PowerPoint presentation to explain how the surgery would be done. I had studied nose surgery a lot and visited various hospitals, but this hospital's method felt somewhat different from the others. What felt most different was that after making an incision and correcting the septum, they would "reinforce the septum by adding rib cartilage to both sides of the septum." When I asked the director, they said it's true that it's not a method commonly used, but it's not something only this hospital does. Anyway, my overall impression was: 1) The doctor is relatively young among private-practice surgeons (I consider 40 to 43 young). Young doctors almost always use autologous costal cartilage. 2) It felt like they frequently attend academic conferences. Their surgical method is somewhat modern (it seems good, but also like its safety hasn't been fully established). 3) The consultation directors really like and trust the doctor. My friend and I went on different days and each consulted with different directors, and both of them said they trusted the doctor a lot and would have all their family members treated at this hospital.
