People say nose surgery and eye surgery aren’t even really cosmetic surgery, but I think that’s all nonsense. Especially for people like me with a bulbous nose, you really feel in your bones how difficult nose surgery is. I also got surgery because of my bulbous nose, but the result was a complete disaster... It wasn’t “it turned out naturally and nicely,” it was just “Wait, that was a nose that had surgery?” That was the only reaction I got. There was literally zero change, so I wasted my money and piled up stress to the sky, and started looking around for revision surgery. I visited all the places that are famous for bulbous nose revision surgery, and most of them followed the pattern of a 5-minute talk with the director → then price haggling with the manager, but Kwon was definitely different. When it was my turn and I went into the consultation room, there were quite a lot of patients waiting, but the director looked over my nose very carefully and analyzed it in detail. It wasn’t just the obvious “if you raise it, it gets prettier” kind of talk. He pinpointed exactly that the skin itself was thick and there was a lot of fat, so simply tying in cartilage wouldn’t be effective. The moment he said that, I thought, this is it!!! He explained the problem points of my nose and the reason my first surgery failed, one by one, and it felt like I had found a ray of light I had already used ear cartilage in the first surgery, so I had a lot to think about in terms of materials, but the director clearly explained the pros and cons of donor rib cartilage and autologous costal cartilage. I wanted autologous costal cartilage because the absorption rate is low and there’s less to worry about in terms of side effects, but honestly I had been hesitating because of the pain. The director said very plainly that autologous costal cartilage is honestly a bit painful and that I needed to know that in advance, and that was much more trustworthy than being lied to and told it wouldn’t hurt at all. In fact, because he was so honest, I think I was able to prepare myself mentally and get on the operating table. On the day of surgery I went into the operating room extremely nervous, but everyone was so kind that I relaxed a bit. Right after surgery, like the director said, the autologous rib cartilage area did hurt with a dull ache. The funny thing was that because the rib area hurt, I couldn’t even tell whether my nose itself hurt. Every time I went in for dressing changes, the director checked my condition and asked if anything was uncomfortable, and I kept answering, “My nose doesn’t hurt at all except that it just feels a little stuffy?” which made everyone laugh. Hehe 'ㅅ' During recovery too, the nose was more of a battle with swelling than with pain, and I almost never remember suffering because of pain. The thing I emphasized most was that I absolutely did not want a tip that was < this pointy. I wanted to fix the bulbous nose, but if it were too sharp it would look artificial and tacky. But the director at Kwon reflected my needs exactly, removing the rounded bulk while shaping the tip naturally and with a nice lifted bridge. It’s been two years since surgery now, and the tip has not sagged or changed shape; it has stayed beautifully the same. When you touch it, the tip part is slightly firm, but I actually feel that this helps support the nose tip structure more solidly, so I feel much more reassured. I chose revision surgery very carefully, thinking it was truly my last chance, and every time I look in the mirror I feel that my choice wasn’t wrong. If you’re tired of clichéd consultations, especially if you have a thick-skinned bulbous nose like me, don’t hesitate and go get a consultation with Director Kwon first.
