During the consultation for double eyelid surgery, the doctor’s overall expertise looked high. The way they explained the structure while looking at my eyes and gave reasons for why this method was right made me trust them. However, during the consultation they emphasized very strongly that only the non-incisional method was possible, and that felt somewhat burdensome. Rather than opening up options and explaining the comparisons, the nuance was almost as if only the non-incisional method was the answer, which felt pressuring for someone who wanted to think it through carefully and decide. Of course, that may also mean they were confident in their own judgment, but as a patient, I was disappointed that I couldn’t hear about a wider range of possibilities. I could feel the professionalism, but I thought it would have been better if the consultation atmosphere had been a little more relaxed and had respected choice.
