Around 2010, before double jaw surgery became widespread, I visited for skeletal asymmetry caused by TMD as a chief complaint. Before that, I had once been opened up at a dental department in a university hospital.. and it failed, so I chose a plastic surgery hospital with dental cooperation. (Plus, they said they didn’t do intermaxillary fixation, so I chose them right away.. back then, most hospitals required intermaxillary fixation.) The doctor was just a surgeon. He clearly had the air of an expert, and I liked how meticulous he was. After my first surgery I experienced severe pain for the second time, but thanks to not having intermaxillary fixation, I didn’t have to worry about suffocating to death.. I just writhed in pain and somehow recovered. Unfortunately, the symmetry wasn’t perfectly matched, but the surgery was fairly successful and my joint problems improved a lot. And the aftercare was very good. I liked that the doctor didn’t feel like a businessman who operates for money, but rather someone with a very clear identity as a surgeon. Also, since there was an orthodontic clinic attached, care was convenient in many ways. Well, seeing that they’re still running well after 10 years, it seems there were no major accidents.
