I had all the surgeries at once around June 2012. (From the point when all the swelling from surgery had gone down and I started living looking obviously normal to now, December 2023, the only side effects were a slight aesthetic dissatisfaction, and around 5 years later a feeling of tightening in the nose like contracture and a little painful inflammation. Other than that, I never had any abnormal symptoms or health side effects.) (At this point, 11 years later, I have been trying to turn my U-shaped face into a V shape with Ulthera, InMode, submental double-chin liposuction and double-chin muscle binding, face lipo and chin-tip lipo, and so on, trying to reduce the bulk of the lower face. Maybe the buccal fat graft I had back then flowed downward over 10 years due to gravity and loss of elasticity. But I also think being overweight played a part. Based on my height, if I had maintained 43 kg, maybe I could have kept the full-face fat graft I got then and wouldn’t have needed liposuction, etc. My average weight is 53 kg.) Right before I went into the operating room, I overheard the manager and my mother arguing over the price, and I heard, “At that price, it’ll be industrial-grade silicone, not medical silicone.” After hearing that, I was anxious throughout the surgery, worrying that might really happen. Because the anesthesia used for the double eyelid surgery was strong enough that I could follow the instruction to close and open my eyes while under anesthesia, I was even more anxious because it felt like I was conscious under anesthesia. Sure enough, on the day after surgery and around the following day, one side of my nose swelled up hugely and my big nose with a hump became an emergency situation. They said it was temporary because of bleeding and swelling, but I was so anxious about the possibility that it might be due to industrial silicone that I raised an objection after I had fully recovered. The doctor said it might have been a hallucination or dream because of the anesthesia, but then the second manager said that while those two were negotiating, the manager did say that exact thing, so it ended with the surgeon, who was also the director, apologizing. There was no compensation at all. Even 5 years later, I sent an email and submitted an inquiry on the website objecting to the dissatisfaction with the aesthetic result as a side effect from the patient’s perspective, but the director refused a visit. And the disappointing points were that one side of the double eyelid was unsatisfactory, there were two needle marks left on the eyelid, and because I had fallen flat on the ground with the middle of my forehead between the eyebrows, the bio-bond formed under the skin made the center of my forehead flat, which was my complex and why I got the full-face fat graft, but that did not improve 100%. So this year I got fat grafting for just that area again at another hospital. The tip of my nose also only had cartilage binding and no reinforcement, so I’ve spent my 20s moderately and without side effects, but now I want to look more refined, so I’m looking into revision rhinoplasty. This is purely aesthetic dissatisfaction; there are no health side effects.
