I thought I had mild protrusion of the mouth, so I worried a lot about ending up with an old-lady mouth after surgery. Looking at my preoperative photos, though, I feel I really needed it and did the right thing. Before surgery, the functional discomfort of having to tense my mouth to close it was the biggest issue, and I was stressed because my mouth would hang open with a sullen look and make me look foolish. That concern has been resolved. My cheekbones also became naturally smaller, so only people very close to me notice, but I became naturally prettier without looking obviously altered. I used to be told I looked like a sparrow or a frog when wearing full-lip makeup, but now it looks pretty. Of course, the first day was extremely hard: I vomited blood more than five times, my nose was terribly blocked, I could barely open my mouth, eating was difficult, and my jaw and cheekbones throbbed. The recovery period was by no means short compared with other cosmetic procedures, but now, three months after surgery, I have no nerve damage and can eat well. I still can’t bite into things like plums as before because it hurts. Still, I’m satisfied.
