Eye Surgery review at Rari (라리) · 2021-02-04

<This review is being written nearly 10 years after the surgery> Before surgery, I was unhappy with my eyes because the outer corners were very upturned, and to improve that I had consulted at many plastic surgery clinics about a surgery to lower the outer corners. At most clinics, I was told that the outer corners were already too upturned and my eye length was long, so it would be better not to do a lateral canthoplasty. But here, after hearing the director say that he would lower the outer corners as much as possible and explain the surgical method, I had the surgery. After the surgery, the swelling in my eyes lasted for a little over a month, so I went to the ophthalmology department and was prescribed artificial tears because the dryness was severe. Once the bruising and swelling went down after about a month and a half, my lower eyelashes started turning inward and stabbing my eyeballs. The white showing under my eyes also got worse after the surgery. Because I was constantly tearing up and dealing with eye redness, I felt a lot of discomfort and went to Dr. Kim Jeong-il, who told me to watch the progress for about 3 months. Even after watching it, things did not improve, and at the ophthalmology clinic I was told that if the eyelashes kept touching my eyeballs, ulcers could develop, so surgery was recommended. I never received an explanation about these side effects, so I complained to the hospital and demanded compensation. But the director said it was the hospital’s mistake for not explaining the side effects (the consultation manager had resigned), and performed surgery so that the lower eyelashes would face outward. However, it reverted again, and I paid about 400,000 won for a second surgery on the right side. After that, I was satisfied with my eyes, which looked much softer than before surgery, but my dryness kept getting worse, I lived with conjunctivitis and redness, and after a few years my vision also declined a lot. At present, I am looking into revision surgery for lateral canthoplasty.
