Surgery review from about 2-3 years ago 1. Consultation I had already gone around to several places, so I had a rough idea of what kind of eyes I wanted and what surgery I needed. Most clinics mentioned double-eyelid surgery, epicanthoplasty, or upper canthoplasty, and this place said the same. They put a headband on me, moved my eyes around from different angles, took photos, and went over them during the consultation. The director seemed to prefer a natural-looking line, which was similar to what I wanted, so they immediately designed a line that I really liked. 2. Surgery I was under sedation on the day of surgery, so I don’t remember much. After changing clothes in the changing room and going into the operating room to lie down, they fixed my hands and feet and started the sedation. I remember saying I was very cold in the middle, and the nurse covered me with a blanket, and then I woke up when they were tying up my right eye. While I was lying in the recovery room for a bit, they put on an ice pack, went over the precautions, and I went home. A few days later I went back and had the stitches removed for the epicanthoplasty and the eye surgery; it stung, but it didn’t hurt as much as I had heard. They gave me ointment and I really applied it diligently. 3. Swelling management I followed the swelling-management instructions exactly and did even more whenever I could. I’d heard some rumor? that the amount of swelling over the first 3 days matters, so I slept sitting up for 3 days. I kept doing eye exercises, got 2 ice packs and alternated them constantly, and went for evening walks. Partly because I didn’t make the line too large, but also because I managed it carefully, the swelling wasn’t bad and went down quickly within a week. 4. Current state My double eyelid has loosened, so I’m scheduled for revision surgery. It’s annoying because it came undone earlier than expected, but I had a fairly thick inner-eyelid line to begin with and I made the double-eyelid line thin, so maybe that’s why they overlapped. Also, the day before it loosened, something very upsetting happened at work, so I cried a lot and kept rubbing my eyes... Anyway, after the double-eyelid surgery, my satisfaction was 100. There was no scar from the epicanthoplasty, and unless I said something, people couldn’t tell it had been done because it looked so natural. If I told them, they were shocked.
