I went around to three or four places, and since it was a fairly large clinic I thought it would at least be average. It was a surgery I had about 5 years ago... if I were doing it now, I think I’d research much more carefully. At first, maybe because it was winter vacation and there were so many people, the doctor felt basically like AI. Right before surgery, when they were marking the line, I timidly asked, “Could the line be a little too high since I’m worried I might end up with sausage eyes..?” and without any comment they immediately took my opinion into account, marked it lower, and sent me into the operating room. I didn’t like that. A 17-year-old timidly asking something, and they didn’t even give an expert comment (= why it should be set that way, what would suit my eyes as they saw them, etc.), just heard my timid little remark and said ok ok, which was kind of bad. Surgery: Maybe they put me under very strong sedation, or my constitution is strange, but compared with friends around me who had double eyelid surgery under sedation, I was dazed much longer, and I only remember being woken up in the middle to check the line; otherwise I was in deep sleep. Not having pain was good. Surgery result: I had it set as in-out, but now, 5 years later, it has become an in-line, almost an inner double eyelid. But it absolutely doesn’t look unnatural. Since I pursue naturalness, that’s fine with me. Still, if I had done it with the line the doctor initially drew, it might have been pretty perfect now, though I probably would have been depressed for about the first year. And one eye has a slight hollow at the inner corner. I also had scar tissue from the inner corner surgery for about a year. It gradually faded, so now it’s almost invisible. They also did scar laser treatment pretty well. They said they could also do filler for the hollow, but I was in high school and my mom strongly opposed it, worrying that if they touched it and it got worse, what then, so I didn’t do it. Conclusion: I like the result of the surgery. But if it were me now, after the consultation I probably would have thought the doctor seemed weird and skipped it.
