It's already been about 3 years since I had the surgery. The doctor was famous from Let Me In and seemed confident, but beyond that I remember him being extremely sharp and unfriendly. Still, skill is more important than kindness, so I decided to have the surgery here. When I consulted at another hospital about cheekbone surgery, they said that around the cheekbone area, or maybe the side-face area, it's hard to remember because it was a long time ago, about 30% of the nerve could be damaged, so I had to accept that it might become slightly numb. Here, they said they weren't cutting bone, so there would be no nerve damage, and that was also why I chose the surgery. But I think there was some damage, because now it's not both sides, but just the area beside my left eye that feels a little numb when I put on makeup? The sensation is different from the normal right side of my face. Still, it's not completely numb, just a bit dulled, so it doesn't affect daily life, and now that I know how dangerous cheekbone surgery is, I'm grateful that this is the only side effect I have. Also, maybe because they didn't cut the bone like other places, the cheekbones are a bit more prominent now than right after the surgery. Still, compared to old photos, it's clearly different, and even considering the nerve damage, I'm satisfied with the result itself, so I've never regretted the surgery.
