The advantages are that the doctor removes sutures, only one surgery per day, and the swelling seems minimal. The downside is that the surgery takes 5 to 6 hours. They said it takes that long because of the time spent designing, stopping the surgery to control bleeding if there is bleeding midway, and having to open and close the eyes to match symmetry perfectly. I think they’d operate carefully, but I’m not confident I could lie there with my eyelids held open for that long while fully conscious.
