Because this is a revision surgery, they recommended autologous costal cartilage. They said there aren't many hospitals that handle autologous rib cartilage well, and that other hospitals would usually recommend donor rib cartilage. At the consultation I thought, surely not, but other hospitals really do recommend donor rib cartilage; I liked that the doctor showed before-and-after photos right there using Photoshop. He seemed professional and spoke with certainty, which was good, but seeing promotional posts being uploaded made me hesitate a bit....
