Three years ago I had a tip-of-the-nose surgery somewhere else. Afterward, once the swelling went down, I saw that the tip had become way too pointy. It felt artificial and very forced. My nostrils also seemed slightly asymmetrical, and it was seriously stressful. My alae were already on the wide side, but once only the tip became sharp, it looked even stranger. So it took me more than a year just to look into revision surgery. Revision surgery is tricky because you have to check the adhered tissue and the state of the implant, so consultations are difficult too. You cannot just go anywhere, because if it fails again there is no answer. When I had a consultation at Mighty, the director explained the current pointed shape by talking about the silicone position at the tip and the condition of the cartilage. They clearly pointed out exactly what was causing the issue now. At other places, when I consulted, they just kept repeating that it could be done well, honestly. So I decided on revision surgery here and had alar reduction done at the same time. I had wanted to reduce my alae from the very first surgery, but I did not do it then. It has been two months now, and it looks really natural. The pointed feeling at the tip is gone, and from the front the proportions seem much better. The alae have definitely been reduced, so now there is nothing odd whether seen from the side or the front. I still think there is some residual swelling, so I feel like it will look even better after three months. Thinking about all the years I agonized and stressed after the first surgery, I keep thinking I should have done this sooner.. I hope this helps anyone considering revision surgery.
