Eye Surgery review at Ihaksu (이학수) · 2022-06-27

A friend got double eyelids done here and they turned out very natural, so this place made it onto the list of candidates for my double-eyelid consultation. I booked a consultation time by phone and went. You can only meet the doctor if you set a surgery date. The manager was kind. Consultations are held only with the manager in an open first-floor space. (So I can't rate the doctor's kindness, but the friend who got double eyelids here says the doctor was kind; however, I can't know that.) Unfortunately, there is no separate consultation room. While waiting, I could hear everyone else's consultation conversations, and my own consultation could also be heard by the people sitting in the same space haha Even if I had to pay a small consultation fee, I wish I could face the doctor directly, show my eyes, and have at least a short consultation. Since the doctor performs the actual surgery, it's hard for me personally to trust the method recommended by the manager for eyes I will live with for the rest of my life. What if, on the surgery day, the doctor recommends a different method? I kept imagining that. The manager recommended incision, upper canthoplasty, and eye muscle correction for me. They said my eyes are recessed. (At another hospital they said my eyes are protruding, and that if I wanted a natural result, buried sutures alone would be enough, so I became confused and worried again.) When I said I wanted the most natural-looking inner double eyelids possible, something like subtle double eyelids that don't look obvious, they recommended making the double eyelids beautifully rather than just trying to hide them, since if I'm spending money anyway I should make them pretty haha They kept adjusting the eye line this way and that, and when they showed me how the upper part would open if I had upper canthoplasty, I was tempted. That made me worry even more. Then I was thinking about the surgery date, and since it seemed hard to decide right away, I asked whether I could decide later by phone. They said surgery reservations can only be made by visiting the hospital. (I had gone to Busan Seomyeon from out of town, so that method felt burdensome and I couldn't understand it. Why can't the surgery date be booked by phone...? I wondered if I could just transfer the deposit by bank transfer.) Anyway, after thinking about it some more, I said goodbye and left the hospital. Separately, the staff member who was guiding the order kept standing the whole time while waiting, and I thought her legs must hurt... It didn't seem like she had to keep standing. I thought it would be better if they gave at least one chair and let people sit while waiting... One-line summary: consultation only with the manager, then make the surgery date and have a final pre-op consultation with the doctor right before surgery. After consultation, surgery date cannot be booked by phone - reservation only after visiting. There is no separate consultation fee with the manager.
