Patient review of Iwabaek (이와백) · 2020-03-10

A hospital that was below my high expectations. I am not sure if the doctor was just moody, but for a clinic that charges a consultation fee, the consultation they provided was rather lacking in sincerity. Of course, if I asked, they would answer earnestly, but the most disappointing part was that when I asked about the surgical method, they responded with an authoritative attitude, like, 'If I explain it to you, would you understand?' Especially when it came to eye correction, they explained using specialized surgical terms and then asked whether I understood, which annoyed me. Of course I would not understand if you just threw out technical terms and spoke so matter-of-factly. Isn't that why doctors are supposed to explain things in plain language during consultations? They also recommended eye correction (though there is no clinic that does not), and when I asked whether it could be loosened if it felt uncomfortable, they said it would be fused to the skin and absolutely not possible. From what I understand, if correction is done by tying it without muscle resection, even if it adheres to the skin to some degree, any discomfort or discomfort caused by the correction itself can be somewhat relieved. I have heard that explanation at many clinics. But they seemed to explain it so confidently as if I would not know, and that annoyed me :) So I felt I absolutely had to make sure the surgery went well here. ^^ ... Of course, the consultation style was not extremely blunt or anything like that. They were moderately spirited and also moderately kind, but perhaps because they had a long career and had maintained their private clinic for a long time, maybe they were very proud of that, or maybe they took patient complaints or issues about the surgical method or postoperative results a bit sensitively. It seemed like they tended to cut off questions about that part very sharply. So naturally I also became worried about aftercare. The price was not attractive enough to accept that kind of risk either. But because the space between my eyebrows is very narrow, the fact that they do not do skin excision was a huge advantage. When I asked whether they do skin excision, the answer was basically, what? Incision and skin excision are the same thing? There are so many clinics that play word games and say incision and excision are the same thing, but I liked that here they clearly said they only do incision without excision. (Of course, there are also doctors who do excision and explain the exact millimeters of tissue removed.) I also liked that they only used local anesthesia and that the eye correction would be done very carefully. My eyes did not have room for a canthoplasty, and my epicanthal fold only needed a bit of muscle release, so the inner canthoplasty was important, and I liked that they did it very naturally and well. I also thought the line suited my face well, so I liked that too. But overall, the doctor's attitude did not fit me well, so I did not get the surgery. For people who want a natural result without skin excision, especially if they are thinking about revision surgery, it might suit them well.
