I was scared of silicone, so I had surgery without an implant, but my hump didn’t improve at all and my nasal tip became blunter than before surgery, so I got a revision at Mint. ;; lol
Since my bridge wasn’t exactly low, they rasped the hump again, inserted a thin 2 mm silicone implant, reused the existing septal cartilage, and added ear cartilage. Until it was almost exactly two months after surgery, my nose still looked bulky, and especially the area above the nostril wings seemed plump, but now it has slimmed down quite a bit. I’m wondering if this counts as a success.
This place is known for doing surgery safely under local anesthesia, and local was fine... First of all, there’s absolutely no risk of a substitute surgeon, and they show you the line before fully closing the incision. Rather than pain, I could hear the sounds, so it was a bit distracting, but it was manageable for me... Waiting with cotton packed in was hard. I think the thirst was the hardest part. Still, the reason the pain from that time feels romanticized is because my surgery turned out well...
My first surgery was done closed at another hospital, and the only good thing was that the surgical scar didn’t show. The problem was that there wasn’t much difference before and after surgery, and the hump came back ㅜㅜ Maybe it hadn’t been visible because of swelling, but as time passed, the hump showed again.
After surgery, during my early follow-up visits, they gave me antibiotic injections and swelling injections, and the next time I stopped by the hospital, they removed the tape and everything. Then at the one-month mark, I went back and had the progress checked. At every visit, the director checked me personally, and if I felt like something might be wrong and asked on KakaoTalk, they answered well. In my case, before removing the splint, I had tenderness in my nose, so I contacted them and went in, but there was nothing abnormal. I guess tenderness is common in the early stage after rhinoplasty. Maybe it felt different before because I had no implant. But this also disappeared after a few days. I recovered with peace of mind because communication with the hospital was good.. I’m so, so satisfied, so I’m writing a review!
To press down a hump clearly, I think silicone is better than no implant... I hope everyone chooses their hospital well!
