Medpor removal and autologous costal cartilage revision surgery for drooping nasal tip, week 1

During my first surgery, without me even knowing... Medpor had been placed inside my nose, and it had pierced through the inside of my nose and was protruding. Of course, I also didn’t like the shape of my nose... Since it was a surgery I had a very long time ago, the nasal bridge was too high and the nasal tip was drooping, which made my impression look harsh, so I started looking around for revision rhinoplasty. I found out about it while searching YouTube, communities, and so on.

First of all, when I went for a consultation at another hospital, they started by saying things like Medpor is hard to remove, it’s difficult... and they didn’t even try to check what was inside my nose first... I was uncomfortable and anxious because of the pierced-through area, but Director Kim Hyun-joo said she could remove the Medpor 100%, and she pointed out exactly what I didn’t like about the shape: the nasal bridge needed to be lowered and the nasal tip needed to be raised!

And the consultant was extremely kind... At other hospitals, slow replies are basically the norm... but Consultant Hee-joo was so kind, and she replied right away to the things I was curious about!!

I received a plan for an autologous costal cartilage mold for the nasal bridge (Inofit), autologous costal cartilage, nasolabial angle correction, columella lowering, long nose correction, and costal perichondrium graft, so I went ahead with the revision surgery!

From right after surgery through the recovery process, for the nose, the splint is uncomfortable, and sometimes it tingles and feels tight, about that much! As for the autologous costal cartilage donor site, it hurts. Just... it hurts so much. I’m also somewhat sensitive to pain... And they said it was okay to wash my hair with my head tilted back, but that was impossible for me. Even lying back at a hair salon felt like I was going to die. Lying down and getting back up, coughing... sneezing, I seriously felt like I was going to dieㅠㅠ

I’m currently at one week, and for my nose, the pain is just occasional tingling, swelling, and tightness, about that much, but the rib area still hurts so much...ㅠㅠ

And as for the improvements, as soon as the splint came off, there was a lot of swelling, but I could see that the nasal bridge had been lowered and the nasal tip had been lifted!! Also, it wasn’t an upturned nose or a pointed nose, which I had kept emphasizing that I hated the most, so I was really relieved. I hope the swelling goes down quickly!
