Having a nose that looked long had been a complex of mine since I was young. From the side, my nasal tip drooped downward, which made it look heavy, and even from the front my nose looked especially long, so I hated taking photos I also had a bit of a dorsal hump, so my side profile felt somewhat rough, but I thought that if I removed the hump completely, my nose would look too flat. I wanted it to look natural, as if only about 2% of it was left.
When I went for a consultation, they recommended going without an implant for the nasal bridge and using autologous costal cartilage only to support the nasal tip. They said that if I had implant-free surgery, the feel would also be natural, and I was drawn to the fact that it would be less noticeable to the touch than putting in an implant.
It has now been one month since I had my first rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage, without an implant. As the nasal tip lifted, my nose definitely looks shorter. The line looks really different from the side, and the dorsal hump was left just slightly, so it looks natural. It no longer looks rough like before, but it also does not look like it was shaved down. Since it was implant-free, when I touch my nose, it does not feel like there is anything inside at all. Even when I press on my nose, it presses down naturally, which is fascinating. They said there is still some swelling left, so I am looking forward to how it will look once more of it goes down. Taking photos has also become so much more comfortable now because I no longer have to worry about my side profile.
