I only had my nasal bridge done 20 years ago, and I don’t remember the material. It was either silicone or Gore-Tex. My current symptoms are a crooked nasal bridge, visible implant outline, and tenderness/pain every day. I went for consultations for both full removal and revision surgery of the nasal bridge.
ㄱㅇㅅ The consultation was done by palpation. They answered my questions while drawing diagrams, and they were kind. They said the reason for the tenderness is chronic inflammation caused by the implant, and that there is implant deviation and calcification, but they would only know the amount after opening it up. The surgery is under sedation, closed approach, capsule removal, within 30 minutes to 1 hour. I have to come in 3 times after surgery, and each time they do laser swelling treatment (free). If I want to fill in the nasal bridge, they would use donated dermis and it would have to be done through an open approach. Since it was my first consultation, I couldn’t ask many questions, so I asked the manager additional questions by KakaoTalk and phone. Additional question: whether there will be a step-off caused by pressure from the implant, or whether it will be uneven, can only be known after opening it up. I showed old photos and said I was unsure whether to put something in because my nasal bridge is low, and the director said my pre-surgery nose was cute too. They said about 90% will return, and the slightly asymmetric nostrils will probably remain as they are. Consultation fee: 30,000 won There is no parking lot, so you have to park in a nearby building. Parking fee is not covered. (Mechanical parking, so electric cars and SUVs cannot park.)
ㅊㅁ Even with a reservation, I waited 30-40 minutes. (Even after taking photos, I waited a long time inside the consultation room.) They looked at the CT and endoscopy and explained my nose condition well. The implant is 2.5 mm, but because it is floating above the nasal bridge, they estimated 3 mm. There is a little calcification, but they said it can be removed cleanly. The surgery is under sedation, closed approach, with capsule removal. If there is a step-off on the nasal bridge, they fill it in. (It’s Megaderm, and there is an additional fee.) They said based on the CT, I probably don’t need it. (It mainly happens when the end of the implant is square-shaped, but mine is pointed. They said they would beautifully shave down any unevenness.) They do many difficult surgeries, but they said my surgery itself is easy, like a 5-minute procedure. They said same-day surgery is possible and there would be almost no bruising. They explained in detail, but they spoke fast and somehow seemed rushed. Above all, it felt like the manager and I weren’t communicating well... For my condition, they said rhinitis surgery is also possible. Consultation and CT fee: 27,500 won. Even when I talked about being unsure whether to put something into my nasal bridge, they just said to choose if I wanted it, and even though I was holding my glabella because of the pain, they didn’t ask if I was okay. When I left, no one even said goodbye... I don’t think this place suits me as an ISFJ.
ㅅㅅㅇ The consultation was done by palpation. They asked questions and wrote a lot on the chart. They briefly looked at my nose condition, and said there is nasal deviation, the implant is noticeable, and there is no contracture or inflammation. They didn’t mention calcification. They suspected that something may have been placed in the nasal tip, so I shook my nose and tilted it up and down to show them. They said it doesn’t seem like I had anything done there, but because my nose shape is different from my original nose, they suggested the possibility of cartilage tying. If it is Gore-Tex, they said anything embedded in the bone cannot be removed 100%. If there is a step-off, they trim the surrounding tissue and fill it in. They showed a photo of implant compression (similar to photos circulating in this community) and said that if the bones on both sides protrude, they would gently shave them down, and it would barely show. I liked that the surgical method was detailed. It is under sedation and closed approach. They allow a generous 2 hours. If I want to add height to the nasal bridge, they proceed with autologous dermis. But once autologous dermis or donated dermis is absorbed, it is difficult to remove later. If I dislike uncertainty, I don’t have to do it; it’s optional. If anything additional besides the nasal bridge implant comes out, there is an extra fee. This was the longest consultation. The manager also said they don’t know how much it will return to my original nose. They said the tenderness is not because of the implant. Parking is available behind the building on the day of surgery. Consultation fee: 10,000 won.
I have appointments booked at Prima in May and Siwoo in July, but strangely, even though I didn’t ask many questions, ㄱㅇㅅ feels trustworthy, so I’m wondering whether I should go there for one more consultation before deciding.
