Hello! I’ll share my second consultation review.
I had a consultation with Director ㄱㅈㅇ at ㅇㅇ Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and even though I had an appointment, the wait took more than an hour and a half.. haha;; (I arrived 30 minutes early, so I waited almost over 2 hours) The consultation was about 20 minutes with the consultant and 10 minutes with the director, and there is a 50,000 KRW consultation fee! Since I had waited so long, they apologized and refunded it to me. The staff were friendly, but while the consultation manager was talking to me, she seemed busy paying attention to her bangs reflected in the glass on the wall.
The estimate was lateral cheekbone + 45-degree cheekbone + long-curved resection (cortical bone not included). That was what they recommended, and when I mentioned that the previous hospital I went to did not recommend cheekbone surgery (see my first post), they said that although my temples are wide, my cheekbones protrude more when viewed from the side, so it would be better to do them together, and that if I have surgery, some temporal muscle would also be lost. They said the mandibular angle under the ear is usually left at 2 cm, but 1 cm would also be okay if I wanted. They explained well that the advantage of this hospital is that they use a 3D printer to design the surgery in advance externally, making a safe and precise operation possible! In my case, my jawbone shape only flares out on both sides at the very bottom end + there was enough space to the nerve canal, so just cutting the bone would be effective; therefore, cortical bone was not included. But when I asked separately later, I was only told that it could be included too (either doing it or not doing it is fine).
The cheekbone is fixed with a total of 2 pins, front and side. They seemed very proud, saying that lateral cheekbone pin fixation is a difficult procedure, so not just anyone can do that fixation without skill. (But all the hospitals I visited had directors who said lateral cheekbone fixation pins are essential.)
This consultation was based on my own face, so it may not be hugely helpful, but I’m writing this because I wanted to provide some information about the hospital atmosphere, style, and so on for those who are making a consultation list before seriously going around for consultations.
