Honestly, rhinoplasty was something I had been thinking about for a long time. My nose wasn’t exactly unattractive, but because it generally looked low, short, and wide, I always felt something was lacking whenever I took photos, and I was especially bothered by how blunt my nose looked from the front. At some point, I started noticing only other people’s noses, so I eventually decided to have rhinoplasty.
I happened to learn about RU Plastic Surgery through a YouTube vlog, and I liked that the overall results were not excessive and that the noses suited each person’s face well. When I went for a rhinoplasty consultation, they explained everything in detail, from the materials to the surgical process, so I thought, “I want to have it done here.”
The consultation with Director Kim Hyun-joo had a very comfortable atmosphere, and I could sense a confident pride that didn’t feel overwhelming. She gave me certainty, even though after consultations at other hospitals I had thought, “Maybe I just shouldn’t do it!”
The nose shape I wanted was one where the bridge was not too high, but the nasal tip had definition. Also, because I was worried about possible side effects later on, I proceeded with autologous costal cartilage for both the nasal tip and bridge.
And what especially surprised me at RU was the swelling and bruising. Not only on the first day after surgery, but even on days 2 to 3, when swelling is said to be at its worst, I had almost no purple or bluish bruising, only a slight yellow bruise under my eyes. The swelling was also minimal enough that I could go about daily life, so within a week, the bruising and major swelling were all gone. I think this is entirely thanks to the director’s skill? know-how.
It has been about 2 weeks now, and I feel like my impression is much clearer and more refined than before. What satisfies me the most is that it doesn’t look too obvious, yet my overall vibe has changed. Since I spent such a long time thinking about it, I now often feel, “I’m glad I did it.”
There is still some residual swelling at the nasal tip, but the more I look at it, the more I feel that every part, from the thickness of the bridge to the tip, nasal alae, and nostrils, turned out exactly as I had hoped. It doesn’t feel like a pretty nose copied from someone else’s; it feels like a natural, pretty nose that fully suits me, so I’m happy every time I look in the mirror, and the cost doesn’t feel wasted at all.
