Hello. I’m leaving a one-month review after facial contouring surgery on February 27 (square jaw, chin, and jawline liposuction). I always had a complex about my face shape, especially my square jaw. From the front, it looked like there was a slight angle, but my side profile was very pronounced, and I also had left-right asymmetry, with the left side being more severe. In daily life, I wasn’t always conscious of it, so I lived with it somehow, but it stood out in photos, so I hated taking pictures. When I absolutely had to take one, I would slightly cover it, or I would be shocked by my face shape when a photo was taken defenselessly without me realizing it....ㅠㅠ Still, I tried various procedures to improve it, but I was always left feeling dissatisfied. So I thought I wanted to get surgery someday, and when I was finally in a situation where I could, the place I looked into and chose was The Standard of Facial Contouring. Even after deciding on facial contouring, I wanted to do it as quickly as possible in case my mind changed again over time, so I didn’t look at too many clinics. I thought it would be hard to choose if I learned too much information. The place I chose after focusing on reviews about surgical safety, reasonable cost, and convenient public transportation was The Standard of Facial Contouring. I had surgery two days after the consultation, and I was grateful that they accommodated my schedule like this. During the consultation, both the consultant and Director Oh Jung Seok listened seriously to my concerns, and they actually said I probably didn’t need cheekbone surgery, so I think that made me decide to get it done there. I had only found my face shape bothersome, but I hadn’t looked at it closely. Other than the square jaw, what should be improved, how many procedures would be right for me... I visited without really knowing those things. I just thought, “I’ll find out when I go~,” and if they had mentioned cheekbones during the consultation, I might have done that too. But from the consultant onward, they said cheekbone surgery was unnecessary, and the director also suggested doing the square jaw together with both sides of the chin rather than the cheekbones, so that the front view would look slimmer, which I liked. I think I developed trust in the clinic because they focused as much as possible on my concerns and set a direction that could safely yet clearly improve them. Of course, I do think that if I had done the cheekbones together, it might have improved things in an even better direction. However, if even a little anxiety had come up during recovery, I think I would have suffered more, thinking, “Is it because I did the cheekbones too after all...” (Even with two procedures, the anxiety during recovery was no jokeㅠ) On the day of surgery, after falling asleep on the operating table, I woke up in the recovery room with taping and a compression band on, and my face immediately throbbed and hurt so much. I was also extremely thirsty, so it was difficult. Still, I endured it somehow, and although I had the surgery and came back alone, I was okay. Pain from endotracheal intubation lasted about 4 days. On the day of surgery, my voice didn’t come out at all. The next day, if I drank warm water, I could say one or two words in a hoarse voice; the day after that, one or two sentences... It improved like that, and by day 4 after surgery, although my voice was still husky, I could have a conversation. The aftereffects of endotracheal intubation were something I hadn’t expected, so I was even more flustered, but I tried to think comfortably that it would get better if I rested. As for swelling, I had seen reviews saying major swelling starts to go down around day 4-5 after surgery, but even at one week, I was still a pufferfish.. I think I told myself, “I guess mine goes down slowly~,” did compresses, and deliberately avoided the mirrorㅠㅠ (Thinking about it now, mine seems to have gradually gone down by the week.) Also, the feeling of heat lasted a bit longer, so I kept doing only cold compresses, and only after having the intraoral stitches removed at week 2 did the heat gradually decrease and I could do warm compresses. Whenever I had questions or felt anxious about anything related to the surgery, I asked by chat, and they replied almost immediately without delay, which helped a lot. Now I’m taking photos of myself and recording the changes. While doing that, I found myself thinking, why didn’t my past self look at myself the way I do now... I also felt sorry for my past self, who didn’t even leave records because I found it bothersome and didn’t want to look... Of course, this is a feeling I’ve come to have while gradually experiencing external changes after surgery, but it’s also fascinating that surgery made me think about things like this. There may be people who feel conflicted before deciding on facial contouring surgery, and even after deciding, feel scared and afraid. I was like that too..ㅠㅠ Still, since you’ve made such a big decision, I sincerely hope you meet a good clinic and a good director who are exactly right for you, and achieve all the results you aimed for. My choice was The Standard of Facial Contouring, and I’m satisfied with my choice!
