It has been one month since I had cheekbone surgery with Director Oh Jung-seok at The Standard of Facial Contouring on January 22. Since I was young, my cheekbones that protruded to the sides had always been a complex of mine. They bothered me when I looked in the mirror, but especially in photos, shadows would fall on them and make them look even more prominent, which caused me a lot of stress. After taking group photos with friends, I felt like I was the only one whose face looked noticeably wide, so I would feel upset every time I chose photos. Because of that, I gradually started paying attention to my angle even when smiling, and I realized I barely had any naturally taken photos I tried adding shading with makeup and covering them with hairstyles, but I kept feeling that those were not fundamental solutions. Even as time passed, the stress did not lessen; instead, I became even more conscious of it, so my desire to “improve it properly if I’m going to do it” grew stronger. After a lot of thought, I decided to get facial contouring surgery and see the effect all at once. Of course, surgery was scary and I had many worries, but I think my desire to resolve this long-standing complex was even greater Right after surgery, there was quite a bit of swelling, as expected, and for several days I focused on recovery while diligently applying ice packs. During the first week, it was uncomfortable to open my mouth wide and I had to be careful when eating, but as time passed, the swelling gradually began to go down and I could feel my facial line becoming smoothly refined. After about 2 to 3 weeks, most of the major swelling had gone down, and by around one month, it looked natural enough that it did not interfere with daily life at all. The biggest change I felt was when taking photos. Before, I had to worry about angles and deliberately add shading, but now even front-facing photos feel less burdensome, and I feel like my face looks smaller and softer overall. As the impression of my prominent cheekbones softened, I think my overall image became much more feminine and calm. The reactions from people around me were better than I expected. I felt the most satisfied when I heard that I looked naturally prettier without it being too obvious unless I said I had surgery. More than anything, I think the biggest change is that I feel less stressed when looking in the mirror, and taking photos no longer feels burdensome. In the end, for me, it was a choice that resolved a long-standing complex, and I think it was a decision that had a positive effect on my confidence as well 🤍
