Hi, I’m an office worker in my mid-20s living in Busan. I’ll just write casually, so please understand! First, I’ll talk about why I decided to have surgery. I’d never really been told that I was unattractive, and I’d consistently had boyfriends, so I had been living pretty satisfied with myself. But as I got older, at some point I started becoming bothered by wrinkles on my face, and the most noticeable ones were forehead wrinkles. So I thought about it and realized the reason I was getting forehead wrinkles was because I was using my forehead when opening my eyes. I already had asymmetrical eyes as a complex, so I think that made me start considering double eyelid surgery while I was at it. After deciding to get double eyelid surgery, while researching online, I first set my own criteria(?) before surgery. 1. What line would suit my face best 2. My desired look, meaning what eye shape I wanted 3. Whether the eye shape I wanted was realistically possible (whether it would require too much force? If so, I decided not to do it) Based on those three standards, I wanted an in-out line and eyes that looked really natural, almost like I had done it but hadn’t. (I know I’m pretty picky, but for the in-out line, not one that starts too tightly from the inner corner; more like when I open my eyes super clearly with full strength it becomes an inline, but when I open them comfortably it becomes an in-out line?) So when researching online, I mainly chose places where the reviews looked as natural as possible, and after organizing a list of clinics I wanted consultations at, I went to 7 places in total. Among them, the clinic I chose was the second clinic I consulted at, with Director G.S.Y. at D.K.Y.P.L.S. I made a reservation and visited first, and after a really brief consultation with the consultant, I waited about 10 minutes and then had the consultation with the director. The consultation lasted a little over 20 minutes, and I was surprised because he looked at things in much more detail than I expected. It wasn’t just at the level of “What line should we do?” It felt like he was analyzing the structure of my eyes itself. The detailed consultation content was like this. (Before getting a consultation, I recommend using Naver Clova to record notes. It organizes everything like below, so it helps a lot later when comparing clinics.) 1. First, the left eyebrow is slightly higher, and the left eyeball protrudes slightly more than the right. -> So the skin above the left eye is thicker, and the right side is relatively more sunken, so it can look smaller. 3. The shape of the front of the eyes is also different, and the right side is set farther inward, so it looks more covered. 4. There are also subtle differences in position and height. 5. There are some fine wrinkles at the front; had I used double eyelid tape/glue before? -> I had never used double eyelid tape/glue even once, but he said it seemed like as I aged, the skin sagged and fine wrinkles formed, making the upper eyelid feel puffyㅠㅠ (But now that I think about it, I wonder if it’s because I kept wearing contact lensesㅠ) 6. Rather than setting the double eyelid line exactly the same on both sides, he said there would probably need to be about a 0.2-0.3 mm difference to match the visible size. He said it would look more natural to make them look similar in the final result rather than simply symmetrical. 8. Because there is eyebrow drooping, if the line is made too large, the distance between the eyebrow and eye can become too narrow, and the upper eyelid can become bulgy. 9. It is true that my eye-opening strength is weak, but if ptosis correction is done along with double eyelid surgery, it would be overcorrection. After surgery, it would be better to practice opening my eyes a lot so I use less forehead strength. Honestly, even though I had set my own standards before going, while consulting I did initially feel like I wanted to make things a bit bigger (for example, four-way canthoplastyㅋㅋㅋ Since I’m doing it anyway, should I open the front, back, top, and bottom? I kept thinking thatㅋㅋㅋ), but he firmly said that if I made it too big, it could become sausage eyes, so it actually felt realistic. (Kind of like I snapped back to my senses after getting greedy?) He also said that although I don’t have a lot of fat above my eyes, the skin is sagging and on the thicker side, so if done wrong, it could give a heavy impression. Overall, he said going natural was the right choice. So it could look a little underwhelming, but I liked that he honestly told me it was better than overdoing it given my structure. As a result of the consultation, we decided to proceed with partial incision, and because doing only double eyelid surgery could make my eyes look too round, we decided to do epicanthoplasty together as well. (Additionally, he said the ideal distance between a woman’s eyes is 35-36 mm, but mine was 39 mm, so it was a little unfortunate. He said he usually actively recommends epicanthoplasty if it exceeds 40 mm, so if yours does, think about it together!) After that, I went to 5 more consultations and spent 3 weeks thinking it over, and during that time, the consultant didn’t contact me with excessive recommendations or anything, which I liked even more. (It kind of felt like, “We’re confident, and the director will take care of it well. Whether you do it or not is up to you”..?) After thinking it over, this was the only place where I felt I had received the most professional consultation, so I decided to have surgery there. When I visited on the day of surgery, I think it took nearly 20 minutes to mark the line again with the director, and the surgery time was about 1 hour and 30 minutes? (Including all the waiting time before that..?) Originally, I was supposed to go the day after surgery for a follow-up, and if there were no issues, have the stitches removed a week later. But I had it on a Saturday and couldn’t use annual leave on Monday, so I visited for the follow-up on Tuesday. Then I visited at one week and had the stitches removed. But maybe because I didn’t swell as much as expected and didn’t bruise much either, it settled quickly, so I’m satisfied! For the epicanthoplasty too, I really, really hated the look where it’s opened too much and the front becomes like an arrow shape, so even before surgery I emphasized so much that I only wanted it opened slightly, almost like I had done it but hadn’t, and it really turned out exactly like that, so I’m sooo satisfied. People around me keep asking for the clinic information, saying it doesn’t just look like empty praise but really looks like my eyes got slightly bigger as if Photoshoppedㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ So even though it was my first surgery, I feel like it was pretty successful, and I’m super happy. These days, it seems like newly admitted college freshmen are looking into cosmetic surgery a lot, so I’m posting this long, detailed review in hopes it helps..! For those whose desired look is like mine and think naturalness is absolutely the top priority, I recommend the place I went to.
