Reason I decided to get rhinoplasty: My low, short nose made my flat-looking face stand out even more, so I thought that raising just my nose would make my side profile look much more alive. Since I had always felt disappointed with my side profile, I agonized over it for almost 10 years, and then decided to get rhinoplasty because I felt I would otherwise keep worrying about it for the rest of my life. How I found out about RU Plastic Surgery and why I booked surgery there: For 3 months from that day, I searched through all kinds of communities such as Babitalk, Gangnam Unni, and a community, looked up reviews, and watched YouTube videos, narrowing it down to a few hospitals I thought I might like. There were 5 in total, and I visited them one by one for consultations. I always brought my husband with me to consultations, and until my consultation at RU, he had said he would rather I not do it and that he felt anxious. But after the consultation at RU, he said that if I was going to do it, I should do it here. Actually, even at the previous hospitals, I had not felt confident enough to entrust my surgery to them, so the certainty I felt after consulting with Director Kim Hyun-joo was very welcome. Ah, the director also had a very good aesthetic sense. After the CT scan, based on the condition inside my nose, she sketched the outwardly visible and most important shape of my nose on top of photos she took herself on the spot. She also referred to my makeup style that day and explained and sketched both my side and front views. Of course, I liked it so much, and I remember feeling excited that I had met the director I wanted. Surgery name and materials with Director Kim Hyun-joo: Based on the CT, the nasal septum inside my nose was very deviated, so I remember every hospital I went to being quite surprised. Director Kim Hyun-joo also explained the state of the deviated nasal septum inside my nose and suggested proceeding with surgery in a way that could improve the inferior turbinates that were swollen because of it. Since I usually had severe rhinitis and had majored in singing, that was very welcome news. Now, in terms of the external appearance that mattered most to me, she agreed to create it exactly as we designed together in 3D. As for the materials to make that happen, I wanted my first surgery to be my last surgery, and I really never wanted to open it up again!! So I did not want any foreign material inserted and wanted to use only autologous tissue. Naturally, I wanted to use firm costal cartilage, and in fact that was also why I went to Director Kim Hyun-joo, who is known for handling autologous costal cartilage well :D The consultation was that while harvesting autologous costal cartilage, she would also harvest rectus fascia that could be collected at the same time without opening another area, then harden diced costal cartilage in an Innofit mold made based on the 3D design from the consultation, wrap it with that rectus fascia, and create the nasal bridge. (I did not want to worry about the warping that can happen when raising the bridge with a solid rib graft!!!) At this time, I did not want my dorsal hump shaved down, and she made it according to that need haha The columellar strut, nasal tip, columella, and nasolabial angle were also to be made with autologous costal cartilage, and she planned to add a thin layer of rectus fascia to the nasal tip to prevent cartilage show-through. For safe costal cartilage harvesting, we decided on general anesthesia, and since I was told that an anesthesiology director would be by my side throughout the surgery, I felt reassured and decided to proceed with the surgery. Things I felt during the postoperative recovery process, improvements, and satisfaction: For the first 3 days after surgery, I was confused because it felt like my face had not swollen at all. There was no bruising either, and except for the feeling that my inner eye corners had been slightly opened, there was nothing noticeable, so I remember my whole family being surprised. On day 7, when the splint was removed, and on day 14, when the silicone support inside my nose was removed, the director did it herself. Every time I went to the hospital, she checked my progress personally, and if I brought written questions, she answered all of them herself, which was really nice for someone like me who is full of curiosity. Whenever I left questions for the manager on KakaoTalk, she replied right away, so I think I barely worried. I do not know whether it is just my constitution or thanks to the director, but I did not have much swelling from the beginning, and it is disappearing really quickly, so I live each day enjoying looking at my nose lol People around me are so obsessed with looking at my nose every day that even I find it fascinating.. Everyone says it turned out so naturally and that my nose came out so well, and as the swelling goes down, the shape I wanted is coming out, so I am happy every morning when I open my eyes haha From the nasal bridge to the nasal tip, she made it beautifully in the straight-to-slightly-curved line I wanted, and the columella and nasolabial angle were also made so prettily and well. Actually, it came out exactly like the 3D design!! :) Thanks to the successful surgery, these days I only take photos of my nose every day haha
