Everyone says that if you want natural-looking surgery, you shouldn’t start with an incisional method, right? But in my case, my eyelids were somewhat stretched out, and as you can see in the before photos, my eyelids covered my eyes so much that they were barely visible, so incisional surgery and ptosis correction were almost necessary for my eyes. So even when I went around for consultations, most places told me to do the incisional method. Some said non-incisional surgery was possible, but when I looked at reviews, the fixation somehow looked weak, and there were many stories about the crease loosening quickly. So even though it was my first surgery, I decided to get incisional double eyelid surgery with the mindset that I should get it done properly.
And something I first learned at Olo was that I was opening my eyes using forehead strength.... I don’t think most people would really know this, you know? When the director asked me if my eyes got very tired, I said yes. But when he placed his hand on my forehead and checked whether I was opening my eyes with my forehead strength or eye strength, I was really surprised to see that if I didn’t use my forehead strength, my eyes became even more half-open and sleepy-looking.. He said ptosis correction isn’t simply done because the pupils don’t show much, and that in cases like mine, it can also be done to reduce reliance on forehead strength, so I ended up getting my first double eyelid surgery here, where the explanation was the most detailed.
I did the epicanthoplasty because I wanted it, and the director checked how much the inner corners could be opened by looking with some kind of eye protrusion measuring device? After getting double eyelid surgery, honestly, more than the swelling and bruising, the stitches at the inner corners of my eyes looked more gross to me, so I wanted to get them removed quickly lol Because of that, my eyes also felt even itchier..
When I had the stitches removed at one week, the director checked them personally, and I asked if I could scratch because my eyes were so itchy, but he said absolutely not He said if they were really itchy, I should only gently touch the area with a cotton swab, so I bought sterile cotton swabs and scratched very, very gently.. almost like wiping. But after the stitches were removed, the itchiness decreased a lot!
I wanted an in-out line and a cat-like eye look, and because of that, the director especially did not recommend doing a posterior canthoplasty. He said my eyes were horizontally long, so actually just double eyelid surgery and ptosis correction would make them look much more open than before, so I think I just waited for the swelling to go down quickly.
After about a month, opening and closing my eyes became fairly comfortable, and like the director had checked, I placed my hand on my forehead and checked my eye-opening strength too. It was much better than before, and I didn’t feel tired either! I think I started feeling genuinely satisfied from around the two-month mark. I usually don’t wear much makeup, so I really wanted a dramatic effect just from double eyelid surgery, and seeing that the line was clearly defined, I think I made the right choice getting incisional double eyelid surgery hehe
There are many people who are scared of incisional surgery for their first surgery, but honestly, the surgical method differs from person to person, and you really need to choose what suits you so that you don’t end up needing revision surgery.. Don’t choose non-incisional surgery just thinking about the possibility of loosening. If you find a place from the beginning that also does incisional surgery naturally and well, I don’t think recovery will be that slow either.
