I had my first double-eyelid surgery in January 2015, and in December 2021 only the right side came undone, so I had revision incisional surgery on just that side. Now, 5 years later, the eyelid line on the revised eye is lower, and the line seems to be getting thinner, so I decided to have a third revision surgery. With the mindset that this would be the last time, I looked into hospitals specializing in revision eye surgery and had consultations at four places, including one plastic surgery clinic. Some places recommended upper canthoplasty + incisional double-eyelid surgery, some said I needed incisional double-eyelid surgery on only one side + ptosis correction on only one side, and another recommended natural adhesion. Among them, that plastic surgery clinic had the best consultation with the doctor and the best hospital atmosphere (I liked that it wasn’t a chaotic, crowded, factory-style place). Since this was my third revision surgery, I focused on whether it was a hospital specializing in revision eye surgery, whether it had one chief director or two doctors, whether there was an AS period, and whether they took good care of follow-up management. I had my surgery done by the chief director there, and the doctor’s consultation was the most detailed, professional, and kind. He checked how I opened my eyes from multiple angles and examined my eyeball structure and the amount of fat in my eyelids. He explained the issue of having sleepy-looking eyes and explained the surgical plan separately for the right and left eye, including how he would perform the surgery, which felt professional and made me trust him. The doctor was serious, and I liked that. At other places, some doctors joked around or only talked about themselves, but here the doctor’s consultation was serious, professional, and kind. The consultation also seemed longer than at other places. The consultant was kind as well, and the hospital seemed to be maintained in a luxurious and pleasant way, so I liked it even more. Honestly, one reason I decided on revision surgery was that my double eyelid had become thinner, so I wanted the line to be as large and visible as possible, in an outline shape, and that’s what I had wanted. But during the consultation, I realized that my actual eye structure is deep-set, and if the line were made too large, it would look heavy and wouldn’t suit me. Rather than choosing a place that just does whatever I ask, I decided I would have fewer regrets doing it at a place that honestly explained the surgical limits of what could be created with my eyes and tried to create the best possible result within those limits. Now that the stitches have been removed after surgery, there is still swelling, but it went down faster than I expected. Maybe it’s because I’m the type whose swelling goes down quickly, but I think the surgery went well. I’m looking forward to seeing my eyes once the swelling goes down more. The line is definitely higher than before, and it feels corrected. My overall impression hasn’t changed drastically, but the line seems higher. I’ll come back with another revision surgery review after some time has passed!
