It’s day 8 after my rhinoplasty, and I got my splint removed today. Honestly, it looks way too high, so I’m having a mental breakdown… This is just swelling, right? How much will it go down…? Especially that part that’s protruding even more tightly than the nasal tip, will that go down too? Does it change a lot from here?
My original nose was a hump nose + droopy nose + deviated nose, and the hump was protruding a bit only on one side. Before going into surgery, I was told, “We’ll shave the hump a little, do osteotomy if needed, and raise the nasal tip with septal cartilage.”
But when I went to get the splint removed today, they said they didn’t touch the septal cartilage and fixed the alar cartilage at the nasal tip instead… Is this what people commonly call cartilage tying? And they said they grafted the cartilage left after the hump osteotomy into the step-off area created while raising the nasal tip. Can it get this high with only cartilage tying…? My nose wasn’t originally extremely low, though it was very droopy.
Please tell me honestly and objectively whether the height I see now and the tightness of the nasal tip are just swelling, and whether the surgical method is okay… 🙏
And if I were to remove it, could I return to my previous nose just by untying what was tied?? Please tell me what side effects cartilage tying can have Honestly, right now my nose is also crooked and my nostrils are a bit uneven, but I had already lived with a crooked nose, and if there are no side effects, I’m planning to live with it while turning a blind eye to it.. Sigh, for now I really hope that side profile is swelling.. They said it won’t get lower because they didn’t use anything like septal cartilage, so there’s nothing to be absorbed. But right now it’s too high and obvious, so it’s hard.. I feel so sorry to my mom and dad too, and I’m just emotionally struggling. I just want to live comfortably with my previous nose
