I’m around 2 weeks post-op after getting rhinoplasty in Gangnam, and the clinic told me not to smoke for at least a month. They said that if I smoke, the nasal tip can drop enough to be disappointing, but can anyone tell me why that happens?
I haven’t smoked even one cigarette, but I’m curious. Why does the nasal tip drop if you smoke? I’m also wondering whether it might drop even if I don’t smoke. And I thought it was because of tar and nicotine, so I asked whether nicotine-free, tar-free products would be okay, but they said it’s better not to use those either. They said the act of blowing smoke out through the nose itself is bad.
Does anyone know exactly by what mechanism smoking makes the nasal tip drop? I’m curious. If two people had surgery together on the same day, and one smoked while the other quit smoking, would the smoker’s nasal tip definitely end up lower later on?
