Masseter Reduction Inflammation, Antibiotics, and Even Hives: Total Chaos

I’m not sure if this can be called a surgical side effect, but… I learned that inflammation can happen after facial contouring surgery even if you manage everything very carefully. Starting on the afternoon of day 5 after surgery, the cheek near my right temporomandibular joint started getting hard and swelling… Since it wasn’t the surgical area, I figured it wasn’t inflammation and that maybe the muscle was just tight, so I left it alone. But by evening, the pain got worse and my face started turning into a diamond shape. I sent photos to the hospital and asked about it, and they said it’s common for swelling or hardness to suddenly get a bit worse, and that it didn’t seem like an emergency. The director also looked at the photos and said it looked like normal recovery;; But suddenly after 10 p.m., I started getting chills and developed a high fever of 38.5-38.7°C. I panicked and contacted the hospital, and they said it was probably more likely a fever from my poor condition, like a cold, unrelated to the surgical site, and told me to take an antipyretic and come in first thing the next day. When I woke up the next day, it was still swollen and I still had a fever, so I went to the hospital. The result was inflammation… haha They pierced deep inside my mouth with something like a syringe, then pressed hard on my cheek and squeezed something out… It hurt so much Something like blood came out. The director said that since yellow pus wasn’t coming out, it didn’t seem severe, but if there was no improvement even after taking additional antibiotics, they might have to open it again and irrigate it. Ha… I got an additional prescription and came home… Thinking it had been an exhausting day, I took the medicine, but about 10 minutes later, my face started itching. I wondered what was going on and looked in the mirror, and I had hives all over my face It kept getting worse and I had a fever too, so I urgently called the hospital. They said my manager would contact me after finishing a consultation and told me to send photos by text;; Thankfully, mine ended with just hives, but if someone has a severe antibiotic allergy, isn’t that an emergency… I thought the hospital system was a bit strange. They said the manager showed it to the director, and the director said I should come back to the hospital, get an injection to calm the hives, and receive a prescription for different medication…. So I’m on my way back to the hospital now Honestly, I’m lucky I live 40 minutes away; if I had come up from another region, I think I would have been even angrier. Everyone, if you have even slightly unusual pain or swelling after facial contouring surgery, just contact the hospital right away and go in… The more I think about them saying my face, which suddenly swelled asymmetrically on day 6, was a normal recovery reaction, the angrier I get haha
